An international manhunt is ongoing to track the suspect, after 129 people were killed in the wave of attacks in Paris on Friday night.
The suspect is Abdeslam Salah, 26, a French national, from Brussels, who is thought to have escaped the scene of the attacks after a possible getaway car was found.
He is thought to have been directly involved in Friday's atrocitites.
One of Salah's brothers is thought to have died after participating in the attacks at the Bataclan concert hall, which left at least 89 dead.
Another of the fugitive's brothers is one of seven people arrested in Belgium, according to reports.
The suspect is believed to have rented the black Volkswagen Polo used by the hostage-takers at the Bataclan, and played a key role in planning the logistics of the attack.
The death toll which earlier was thought to have been raised to 132, remains at 129 according to hospitals in Paris.
Latest updates show that of the 80 who were reported critically injured, three people died on Saturday, 42 are still in intensive care and 35 are no longer in intensive care.
In total, 415 persons were admitted to hospital following the attacks and 218 have now been discharged.
Police have warned the public that Salah is too dangerous to be approached.
They have distributed his picture in an effort to track him soon. It is not clear whether or not he is armed.
British police and spies are working closely with counterparts in France and Belgium to identify and pursue those behind the massacre.
Seven people have been arrested in Belgium in connection with the deadly attacks in Paris as the city entered three days of mourning for the 132 people killed in the worst violence in France in decades.
One of the terrorists killed in the attacks, is thought to be Ahmed Almuhamed, 25, thought to be a Syrian refugee.
He arrived with another bomber on the Greek island of Leros on October 3, reports Serbian newspaper Blic.
Almuhamed is said to have travelled from Macedonia to Serbia on October 7 before heading for France.
A Greek official has said an unnamed man whose passport was found passed through Leros before travelling to Athens by boat.
The passport was also registered in October in Serbia and Croatia, also countries on the corridor that crosses the Balkans.
It was not clear whether the passport is real or fake, or whether it belonged to the suicide bomber.
It is reported that he was rescued from a sinking refugee boat on October 3.
arlier, police have moved people away from the Place de la Republique in Paris, with reports from that gunshots have been heard.
Panicked people trampled over flowers and candles laid to honour the dead in a frantic bid to flee the area.
Police have also advanced with guns drawn close to a small Cambodian restaurant and a bar that were the scenes of shooting on Friday night
The two are about a 10-minute walk apart, in in the same general area of Paris.
It has now emerged that the crowd became panicked after hearing some firecrackers being set off. Police said there is nothing to indicate further threats to Paris.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for Friday's gun and bomb attacks on a stadium, a concert hall and Paris cafes.
As many as three of the seven suicide bombers who died in the attacks were French citizens, as was at least one of the men arrested in neighbouring Belgium.
The scenario is similar to that which ensued after the January attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
The suspects were pursued into the countryside to a print works, where the owner was held hostage by Cherif and Said Kouachi, before eventually being let go.
The terrorists were then killed in a dramatic police assault.
