It seems even if America's Most Wanted does eventually come back, it may not be with John Walsh as host, at least that's what he's indicated in his interview with TV Guide.. I hope not and would like at least another 5-10 years of him (sounds like a sentence for a caught fugitive!). Watching this show since 1996, Mr. Walsh has been a huge part of my childhood and life. We will have to wait and see but if this scenario happens who would you like to see become the new host of this very important show?

I personally would like to see his son Callahan take over, eventually. He is young but he has learned from his father and I take it would also have it in his blood to be willing to fight if any network ever tries to cancel the show again. That's what's most important to me here. Walsh refused to let AMW go off the air and brought it to Lifetime and we need someone just as passionate. I also think AMW EIC (Executive-In-Charge) Roger Chiang would make a good host. Like Walsh, he is a crime victim (his sister Joyce Chiang was a DC intern murdered in 1999) and has experience in production so why not as a host? He isn't the most well-known name, but John Walsh proved the show host should not be who is a flashy name, but who would be the best fit. We all know Walsh now, but we didn't back in 1988 (he was a respected victims' rights advocate, but not as famous as other names bandied about to host). Chiang seems to be a man just as passionate as JW. Someone who private messaged me on this forum's Facebook group actually had a great suggestion: David Rose, the host of "Washington's Most Wanted." The show has had success and Rose himself has been on AMW profiling some of his fugitives: catchwmw.com/bio/david-rose/#axzz2Q6t4V1GjAlso, I know he is a former correspondent but I would LOVE if Tom Morris became the host of AMW. That guy had no fear and would jump into anything when he was doing his segments on Fox. Even my mother who I watched the show with growing up told me she wanted to see Morris take over if Walsh ever decided to retire and we both agreed. In any case, these are some of my picks, and all would be great, but I'd rather see John return!

Also, I can't edit polls after I do them (I don't think). Sorry for the question mark in one of the options.

Scumhunter I would agree with everyone you mentioned. I just don't know if Callahan has any TV experience.

Scumhunter I would agree with everyone you mentioned. I just don't know if Callahan has any TV experience. Neither did his dad. I believe Pakman once said he'd like Cal to take over but wasn't sure if he had any on-camera experience. I think perhaps Cal may be a better "future" host if John does come back and then a few years down road hands the keys over. He may be a little too young at the moment, and I say this being around the same age as him. But in any case, I hope Callahan would play a larger role in the event of his father's retirement, as he'd be most likely to make sure nothing happens to AMW yet again...

John may have not had that much TV experience, but he did lobby in Washington for victim's rights and helped create an HBO special before AMW premired. www.amw.com/about_amw/photogallery.cfm

That is true, but it's a bit different being on tv. Walsh was admittedly nervous the night AMW debuted, and you can tell whenever they re-air the clip. Walsh was still probably less "tv-ready" than some of the other candidates, which according to "Tears Of Rage" included a few actors such as Brian Dennehy and Treat Williams: www.imdb.com/title/tt0094415/trivia

So I was listening to MKTV, and apparently there's a rumor that John might not even be allowed back to host and a few names are being floated about and a few have expressed interest if that's the case- and one of them is Elizabeth Smart. I'm sure of you remember me suggesting her as a candidate on the old amw.com forum because of her news experience and her presence would remind of the power of the show, but at the same time she's a bit young and why I changed my mind a bit. I remember Pakman saying Elizabeth probably wouldn't be interested because she's a private person and just wants a normal peaceful life after her ordeal as a teen- but maybe she'd realize how important the show is. Like Callahan I think she'd make a better "down the road" host when she's a bit older but it's just a rumor and we at this point have no idea if AMW will even come back let alone if it's with a new host so we'll see...
