Hillsborough County Detectives are searching for Ana Bonilla in the shooting death of a family friend. Detectives say Bonilla believed that her husband was having an affair with Ingris Banegas, who worked as Bonilla’s nanny for a few years.
On September 23, 2000 detectives say Bonilla called Ingris and accused her of an affair, then drove to the home where Ingris was working as a nanny. The two had a verbal fight on the front lawn that escalated into a physical fist fight. Detectives say Bonilla ran to her truck where her 16 year old daughter was waiting for her and grabbed a handgun. According to police, Bonilla returned to front lawn and shot Ingris to death. Ingris’ one year old daughter and a few children that Ingris was babysitting witnessed the shooting.
Detectives do not have any evidence of an affair between the victim and Bonilla’s husband. Bonilla’s 16-year-old daughter told detectives she has no idea where her mother went after the shooting. Her mother’s truck was recovered in Tampa the next day. Since then Bonilla has not been seen. Detectives believe she may be hiding out in Florida, North Carolina or Guatemala.

Thoughts? Ana Bonilla was aired on March 24, 2001 and may have been the commercial break case for that episode. Her story was most recently mentioned in the media in a 2011 article about fugitives wanted in the Tampa, Florida area. Anyway, whether an affair was going on or not, that doesn't excuse the murder of Ingris Banegas in front of several infant/toddler children. Thanks to Ana, all of those children were sadly likely traumatized and still suffer the effects of it to this day (I have no reason to know that for sure of course). 15 years is way too long for any fugitive to be on the run and Ana needs to finally face a court of law for the murder of Ingris, even if she is hiding in say Guatemala.
