Madrigal was babysitting Alexis and is now wanted on one count of child abuse and one count of assault. Madrigal is believed to have her three-year old daughter (who now would be around 7) Mia with her and is believed to be possibly getting help staying on the run. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Madrigal should contact the US Marshal Service in Sioux City, Iowa at (712) 252-0211 or e-mail siouxlandsmostwanted@kpth.com. Callers can remain anonymous and information can be kept confidential.

I'm going to bet that the siouxlandnews article is a couple of years old, so Mia would probably be somewhere around 7 by now if still alive. I bring that up because no young child deserves to have a caregiver who's wanted on child abuse charges related to the death of an 8-month old girl. It's the worst case possibility that while on the run, Mia somehow died at the hands of her mother Maria.
I'll also add her to the 2013 Contenders List.

Madrigal is still at large as of this update (11/30/2017) as far as I can tell (don't see her on the Marshals website anymore but nothing about her capture either). But just a note her wanted state is actually Nebraska. South Sioux City is a Nebraska town right across the river from Sioux City, Iowa.
I usually try to just pretend mistakes didn't happen to not feel embarrassed, but I don't think anyone not from the area can blame me for not knowing.
The important thing is still finding Madrigal if she's still at large.
If anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.

Considering we are talking about the homicide of an eight-month old, I paid the $15 USD (converted to CDN) fee to check Maria's case in Nebraska's court records database. As of today, October 8, 2023, Maria's 2009 case is classified as open/active and the last action was a 2020 filing to keep the warrant active. This unfortunately means Maria is still a fugitive. I checked PACER and did not see an UFAP (Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution) case for Maria. I really hope that Alexis's family gets justice. - supremecourt.nebraska.gov/self-help/court-records |
