The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a Modesto man wanted in a 2008 murder here.
Alexander Morfin, 26, is Latino with brown hair and brown eyes. He stands 5-foot-10 and weighs about 175 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Morfin is sought for his alleged involvement in the 2008 murder of Victor Gaona, 37, of Modesto.
Gaona was shot to death in the area of Dezzani Lane and Ustick Road in south Modesto on Sept. 3, 2008. Police initially called the shooting a gang-related fight.
When officers arrived, they found Gaona had been shot several times as he walked down the street. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
According to witnesses, the suspects fled in a Honda Accord. Investigators later found the car burned in a residential neighborhood in Sacramento.
Investigators from the Central Valley Gang Impact Task Force have investigated the case and identified several suspects related to the homicide. To date, four have been arrested.
The task force is an FBI Safe Streets Initiative, which includes local, state, and federal investigators from throughout Stanislaus County.
Morfin may be in California, Nevada or Mexico.
A local arrest warrant was issued for Morfin on March 10, 2010, in Stanislaus County Superior Court, after he was charged with murder, assault with a firearm and participation in a street gang.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Morfin in U.S. District Court in Fresno on March 11, 2010, after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
