BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Jerald Goldsmith was stripped from her family last October.
Her daughter Makeyia Hunt says Goldsmith was the glue that held her kids together. The 52-year-old left behind seven children and two grandchildren.
“She has a huge family. For somebody to just take her life like that, it is very hard,” Hunt said.
Her children say Goldsmith had a smile that would light up a room but now all they have are memories.
Hunt said, “My mom was always happy. If she’d come around you, even if she was feeling bad, she never let it show.”
Goldsmith’s body was found on the stairs leading up to Buffalo’s Masten Park near Best Street and City Honors last October.
A man made the disturbing discovery as he was on the way to the store. He said her pants and shirt were partially pulled off. He also said Goldsmith had a lot of trauma to her face.
“They treated her so terribly. They beat her body up so bad. They had to keep her out 15 days in order to have her funeral,” Betty Goldsmith, the victim’s mother said.
Buffalo Police are investigating this case. They hope someone comes forward with information.
“We just want answers,” Hunt said.
Goldsmith’s family is pleading for anyone who knows what led to her death to come forward. They want closure and justice.
“I wish somebody would come forward, because it isn’t like she didn’t have any family. She has kids. She has a mother. Whoever did this was an animal. They just took her,” Hunt said.
Thoughts? Buffalo Police believe based on the brutality of the crime this was a rage killing and not random. The question is who would be so enraged as to kill a seemingly beloved grandmother?
