(Above photo credit: amw.com archives) Fugitive Profile as of August 20th, 2014 (based on FBI.gov profile): Aliases: Marcelo Aguilar Garcia, Sal Aguilar, Saul Aguilar, Saul Avila, Sal Fernando Avila, "Saul" Date(s) of Birth Used: August 14, 1970 Place of Birth: Los Angeles, California Height: 5'8" to 5'9" Weight:170 pounds Occupation: Construction work Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Sex: Male Race: White (Hispanic) Nationality: American Scars and Marks: Aguilar has the following tattoos: the name "Surenos", a man and a woman, and an Aztec warrior on his back; the name "Saul" on his chest; and the name "Aguilar" on his stomach. Remarks: Aguilar reportedly is a heavy methamphetamine user. Aguilar has ties to Mexicali, Mexico. Who to call if you've seen him: Local FBI field office or embassy or submit a web tip at tips.fbi.govIn 2004, AMW aired Saul Aguilar once for 30 seconds. In 1997, Aguilar allegedly shot and killed his 19-year old girlfriend in Los Angeles while she was playing with her three-year old daughter. Aguilar was arrested in Mexicali, Mexico in 1999 but fled before Mexican authorities knew about his warrant. Aguilar would now be 42-years old. He has several tattoos and is a heavy methamphetamine user. Aguilar is probably still in Mexico but luckily he was born in Los Angeles so Mexico's most likely not going to delay or prevent his extradition. The FBI is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to his arrest. www.fbi.gov/wanted/murders/saul-aguilar-jr/viewAdmin Note: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

As of July 15th, 2018, Aguilar is still listed on the FBI's website as a wanted fugitive. (Same link as in HeadMarshal's OP).

Apparently there’s a new image of Aguilar on his FBI poster.

I was going to mention, with his heavy meth use, he may look MUCH older than his pictures from around the time of the crime. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s missing teeth, too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Aguilar is still living in Mexicali, Mexico today. I would probably think he is either living with a completely new family or he was likely killed by a cartel or is working for one which would make it impossible to locate him.
I’m very curious what was the reason for his arrest in 1999 in Mexico?
Was it the fugitive manhunt or he committed a crime there?
Also to think the victims 3 year old daughter witnessed the murder and was left without a mother is really heart breaking and it could be the reason Special Agent Scott Gariolla remembers this case.

I actually checked Newslibrary and didn't see one article from 1999 about the arrest and release before Saul's fugitive status was realized. It would be helpful to know the reason, depending on the charge he could still be committing those same types of offenses to this day. Also just want to add that Saul's birth city is Los Angeles, California, USA. We have brought this up in other threads, but it is easier for Mexican authorities to arrest and extradite American-born fugitives compared to native-born fugitives. Therefore, profiling Saul on In Pursuit sounds like an idea that should be considered.

Like Eugene Palmer they’ve done a media blitz on him in the months leading to his addition and generally in the past these media blitzes like this tend to make the Top Ten List. I wouldn’t be surprised if this media blitz will lead to Aguilar’s eventual possible addition to the Top Ten List sometime in the near future.
Granted he may not be the most recent fugitive, but like Jesus Munguia, they seem to think Saul Aguilar is in a particular part of Mexico and usually in the last few years the FBI List has been good at getting cold case fugitives out of Mexico quickly.
Also Scott Gariola, the special agent in charge of the Los Angeles Field Office said he wanted to close one these cases before he calls it a career, and he indicated he preferred a list of predominately U.S. born Hispanic fugitives believed to be in Mexico which are easier to get back as they are deported immediately, which explains why almost every fugitive since at least 2017 added to the list, believed to be in Mexico is a U.S. citizen.

I'm also wondering if his heavy methamphetamine use could of changed his appearance like with his mouth or he may have have stopped using drugs all together I'm wondering how he may have made a living on I could see a few possibilities Aguilar has a tattoo of the word surenos the southern California gang comes to my mind but I don't know If he was.a member of a gang he could be working in the illegal drug trade like Jose saenz or maybe even a hitman for a cartel im just theorizing or he may be even doing honest work like say maybe working as a mechanic or welder like gustavo soria

I’d wager he’s missing a lot of teeth and he probably looks 10-25 years older than he actually is if he has been abusing meth.
