OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) – Investigators have identified a suspect in a shooting that left two people dead and another injured in Omaha, which was described as “brutal” by the Omaha chief of police.
Police say 53-year-old Michael Nolt is wanted for the murders of 26-year-old Malquan King and 23-year-old Arelius Hassell. He is also accused of shooting and injuring 25-year-old Tommynique Valentine.
“Michael Nolt came into our community and murdered two people and attempted to murder a third person, an Omaha citizen with her children present,” Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said in a statement Monday. Through the professional work of the Omaha Police Homicide Unit, assisted by the Fort Wayne, Indiana and the New Haven, Indiana police departments, arrest warrants have been authorized for Nolt. We are asking the public to notify law enforcement if you know the whereabouts of our suspect so he can be held accountable for his brutal crimes."
He said the department’s homicide unit worked with police in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and New Haven, Indiana, to get warrants for his arrest.
Investigators say Nolt and the two men killed, who were from those two cities, were known acquaintances.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Nolt, who is considered armed and dangerous. They say the murder weapon has not been found.
He is described as about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with gray hear and hazel eyes.
He may be driving a 2015 white Chevy Impala with out of state plates, according to police.
Police began investigating after responding to the shooting at a home on Curtis Avenue, near 45th Street around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Anyone with information about where Nolt might be is asked to call Omaha Crime Stoppers at (402) 444- STOP.
