Cops: Child Sex Offender May Strike Again
Authorities tell AMW that on August 22, 1994, Riyad Hamdan parked his ice cream truck in a residential area of Poway, Calif. with more in mind than just selling ice cream to children. Cops say that as Hamdan was selling ice cream to an 11-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother, he took the girl into the van under the pretense of hiding a five dollar bill in the freezer. The girl's brother followed into the ice cream truck.
Police say that when the girl bent over, reaching for the money, Hamdan pressed his groin area against her buttocks. When she tried to escape, cops say, he grabbed her by the back of the neck and pushed her forward against the freezer. The girl's brother began hitting Hamdan, but he pushed the 4-year-old into another freezer. As Handan continued his behavior, the girl's sister and a friend walked by the van and saw what looked like Hamdan simulating sex with a girl with her clothes still on. It was at that point that the girl broke free.
Hamdan was arrested for the incident and when the girl was interviewed by police, she explained that she had been in the Hamdan's van on three separate occasions. She indicated that Hamdan often used the ruse of money to get her into the vehicle and when she did, he would approach her from behind and begin rubbing up against her.
Hamdan was convicted of child molestation and served two years in state prison. He was released on parole on April 30, 1996. Upon his release, he requested the transfer of his parole from Cincinnati, Ohio where he has family. While in Ohio, police say that Hamdan violated the conditions of his parole and failed to attend mandatory sex offender treatments. Hamdan was therefore returned to California and reincarcerated. When he was released in 1997, he absconded parole supervision and has not been heard from since.
Police say that Hamden is a serious threat to the community and adolescents. They believe that because of his past brazen criminal activity, there is a definite possibility that he will try to commit such crimes again.
Thoughts? The above was from the AMW archives. Hamdan was aired on the July 27th, 2007 episode of America's Most Wanted. Kinda scary that he allegedly thrusts himself upon children he doesn't even know and hasn't been heard from for 18 years. I'm assuming is Hamdan is of Middle Eastern descent but it seems his family is mainly in the Ohio area.

UPDATE: I have not found anything new online in the past few years. As far as I can tell, Hamdan is still at large as of this update (7/23/2018), since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise. However, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
