Jaime Alberto Macias was aired on the April 20th, 2012 episode of America's Most Wanted. It was an FBI Top 10 special, and although Macias has never been on the their Top 10 list, he was at one point on their website. Below is the FBI archived case description:
Jaime Alberto Macias is wanted for allegedly killing his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter. On July 30, 1993, Macias was supposed to babysit for the girl in the home that he shared with the girl's mother in Far Rockaway, New York. While doing so, Macias allegedly beat the girl to death. An autopsy revealed the girl had suffered a severe beating in the abdominal area, causing damage to her liver, heart, pancreas, stomach, and lungs. On April 8, 1994, Macias was indicted by the Supreme Court of Queens County, New York, for the crimes of murder (second degree), manslaughter (first degree), manslaughter (second degree), criminally negligent homicide, and endangering the welfare of a child. On March 16, 1999, a federal arrest warrant was obtained in the Eastern District of New York, Brooklyn, New York, and Macias was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Thoughts? What makes this crime even more disturbing is he attended the little girl's funeral after allegedly killing her. One of the links below has a more clear picture but I didn't put that in the profile since I'm not sure if that really is Macias. You'd think either AMW or the FBI would have had that as the profile picture instead or at least as an additional photo but they still have the grainy old one. (Then again, we've seen AMW have poor picture choices in the past). Another thing I wonder about is why he disappeared from the FBI's website. Despite the crime being in 1993, he was added to the site I believe the same year as his AMW airing, or a year earlier at the very least. Yet he's gone from the site already. Don't know what's up with that. It's the only reason I put NYPD Crime Stoppers instead of the FBI just in case they aren't handling his case anymore. (Not that NYPD Crime Stoppers wouldn't do a great job, but I'm also sure they'd welcome additional help from the FBI).
