Obviously, we already know about the shooting that left 10 people dead. I won't say anything about the shooter himself and give him the attention he doesn't deserve, but it's a tragedy and senseless.
The problem I see is this type of thing happens every 3-6 months and now the response pretty much seems to be what else is new. Whether you think the answer is stricter gun laws, better mental health, both or neither, the fact of the matter remains we seem to be the only "civilized" country where this happens at such a frequent pace.
It's tough, even I admit I'm not sure exactly what the answer is to reduce mass shootings, I do believe in common sense gun laws while at the same time acknowledging criminals will still find the ways to get guns. I do believe in addressing mental health, but that didn't stop James Holmes from slipping through the cracks. All I know is the fact of the matter remains we seem to be content to accept that this is going to happen every few months, and not do anything about it.
