(Above photo credit: LAPD Most Wanted website) Fugitive Profile as of October 1st, 2015: (based on LAPD Most Wanted website) Sex: Male Descent: Hispanic Height: 5'03 Weight: 150 Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Date of Birth: Feb 18, 1969 (46 years old as of this posting) Who to call if you've seen him: South Bureau Homicide Detective D. Myers or S. Burciaga at 213-237-1310.Juan Ramon Carlos is one of the Los Angeles Police Department's Most Wanted fugitives. According to a master list sent in by a long-time AMW viewer, Carlos was aired on AMW. I am spelling his name as "Ramon" in the thread title since that's how AMW aired and spelled it, but according to the LAPD website, his middle name was actually Roman. I am currently uncertain as to who was incorrect. Anyway, according to the brief description on the LAPD's Most Wanted website, a female victim arrived at her place of business carrying a plastic bag containing money. She was approached by Juan Ramon Carlos and a struggle over the money began. The victim tried to get away but was shot and killed by Carlos, who was using a .38/357 caliber handgun. Carlos took the money and fled the location. Thoughts? I wish the description wasn't so vague as I don't know what this business is or why she was carrying a plastic bag. But what is known is this man shot an innocent woman to death over money. I put 1999 as the wanted year since the site says he was 30 at the time of the crime, but if I have the year wrong, please let me know. Roughly 16 years is a long-time, but other LAPD cold cases have been caught in the past. www.lapdonline.org/all_most_wanted/most_wanted_view/12917Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Scumhunter, I read 3 online articles about this case. To answer your questions:
-It was a grocery store, probably a hybrid of Oriental market and convenience store.
-the plastic bag she was carrying contained $30,000 and was used to cash paychecks, a service the store offered for a small fee. It was mentioned the family had numerous failed business ventures before this, so they offered the check-cashing service in order to drum up business.
I certainly hope Carlos is caught. Chongbok was known as "Mama" to her customers.
The store had been robbed three times previously, so it sounds like it was in a bad area. Although I'm betting Carlos had figured out the high volume of cash kept on hand and the movements of the employees and capitalized.

Okay, this is getting confusing. LAPD's most wanted site has Juan Carlos's middle name as "Roman", and not Ramon. At first, I thought that might have just been a typo. but considering AMW mentions that his real name might be "Eladio Roman", it leaves me unsure. Ramon is more of a Hispanic name, so this is really confusing. Either the LAPD website or AMW is wrong.

Oh wow, good catch. It's pretty embarrassing for AMW (as much as it was my favorite show) if they aired the show with the wrong middle name. Then again just as embarrassing if the mistake was on the other end.

I edited the OP to mention the discrepancy.

As of June 9th, 2018, Carlos is still listed on the LAPD most wanted website, which granted is not the most updated website, but enough for me to reasonably assume that he's probably still wanted as of this update. (Most wanted profile link is the same as in the OP).
