Deputies Bust Alleged Drug Dealer
Sheriff's deputies in St. Joseph County, Mich. say Alejo-Benitez was trafficking cocaine and marijuana into their county, arrested Claudio Alejo-Benitez, and in February 2000, prosecutors charged him with those crimes.
Just two weeks after his arrest, cops say the judge released Alejo-Benitez on bond, and investigators say he forked over the cold, hard cash. They say he walked out of jail that day, but hasn't been seen or heard from since.
The Search Is On
Authorities believe that Alejo-Benitez, who primarily goes by Claudio Alejo, may still be in the United States.
According to the investigation, Alejo-Benitez's wife and other family members are currently living in northern Indiana. Cops think he may be hiding out either with them or in their general vicinity.
There is a slight possibility that he may have fled to Mexico, but cops do not believe that he would have left his wife and family in Indiana.
Cops say while he may not be a dangerous individual, he has brought harm to many individuals by transporting and delivering drugs into their communities. Now they turn to you to bring Alejo out of hiding and back behind bars where he belongs.
Thoughts? Going down the archive list of cases we haven't added yet and I'm just going to assume Alejo-Benitez is still at large as of this posting date (9/23/2015) since I've seen no proof otherwise.
Alejo-Benitez was possibly aired on the February 23rd, 2008 episode of America's Most Wanted, although we aren't sure.
