Flavio Salazar, also known as Juan Perez, is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend and the abduction of his two daughters. He was aired on the August 2nd, 2003 episode of America's Most Wanted. Below is the archived description of the case:
Flavio Salazar is wanted in Nashville, Tennessee for the murder of his girlfriend, Maria Santillan.
Police say Salazar and Santillan had been dating since at least 1996. Santillan had given birth to two girls by Salazar, Tanya and Yasmin. Detectives say Salazar and Santillan had been fighting and on November 17, 2001, Santillan took her two children and moved in with her mother. Two days later, Santillan received a call from Salazar and decided to go back home. Later that day, Santillan's brother went by her apartment to check on her. Police say Santillan's brother saw Salazar with the kids in a car but didn't see Santillan. Police say Santillan's brother went to her apartment again at approximately 9:00 p.m., and got no answer at the door. Santillan's brother asked the apartment manager to let him in the apartment so he could see if everything was alright. Santillan's brother found her dead in the back bedroom. Police say she had been strangled. Detectives say Salazar took the kids and hasn't been seen since.
Thoughts? I could never find much about this case online besides brief one-liners describing it, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found the AMW archive (thanks to pakman's episode guide listing the date of airing) and it's actually a full paragraph.
For what it's worth, the archive says Salazar is known to do carpentry type work, and has family in Mexico and Texas. According to the Nasvhille PD website, Salazar was born May 7th, 1972, so he is 43 years old today.
I am confused as to why Tonya and Yasmin are no longer in the missingkids.com database, since as far as I know they are still missing, and under 18. It seems at the very least Salazar is still wanted. So... If anyone has any updates, feel free to use our contact form: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form
