On April 20th, at 10 PM EST, multiple shots were fired into a residence in Fort Pierce, Florida. Inside was 2-year old girl named Ma'Keila Burks. It is believed she was shot at leas
t once. She was rushed to a trauma center, but would die the following week.
According to police, it is unclear whether Ma'Keila was inside or outside the house. There is also conflicting reports as to who the intended target was. Some say police were unsure while other reports say Ma'Keila's father was the intended target.
What is clear is an innocent 2-year old girl became the killer's probably unintended victim.
Police were initially having a difficult time getting information from the community and released the Ma'Keila's photo in hopes that it would encourage witnesses to come forward
Weeks later, family, friends and even strangers from across the state gathered at a Miami chapel to mourn the death of Ma’Keila Burkes.

Thoughts? I think it's safe to say Ma'Keila likely wasn't the intended target. I also haven't seen anything on the make or model of the car and all we know is the weapon was a type of assault rifle. What I feel is that like so many cases, one or more people probably know a lot of more about this case but won't come forward because of the ridiculous "Stop Snitchin" culture on the streets. Some people hate that culture as well but still won't talk because they're afraid of retaliation. I always say when it comes to the murders of young children- why can't you make an exception? If you normally hate cops or are scared or whatever your crappy reason is for not coming forward- why can't you say "Ok, any other case I won't say jack, but this is a 2-year old girl, just this once, I'm going to talk." (Not that I condone not talking for any murder, but it's especially mind boggling when people won't talk for a 2-year old girl.)
