Adalberto Lua Jr. is wanted for an alleged senseless murder in Bullhead City, Arizona. The case was a web-exclusive on AMW's old website. Below is the archived description:
Ariz. Cops: Gang Member Chases Down, Murders Innocent Man
Just after midnight on Dec. 28, 2007, cops say Anthony Diaz, 20, left his apartment to pick up his female teenage cousin; he had intended to escort her home from the apartment, where she had been visiting female friends.
Police say there were also several gang members inside the apartment, among them Adalberto Lua Jr., 22. According to investigators, without any provocation, the gang members confronted Anthony. The altercation spilled into the parking lot of the apartment complex as more gang members continued to arrive.
Officials say Anthony realized that he was outnumbered and decided he had to get away. In order to protect his family, he took off running down the street instead of heading back to his own apartment.
Cops say Anthony made it about a half-mile before Lua caught up with him. They say Lua hit Anthony in the head with a rock and he fell to the ground. Anthony was then knifed repeatedly in the heart, killing him. The stabbing reportedly continued, even after Anthony had died.
Police say Lua fled the scene, and Anthony’s body was later discovered by a security guard.
Anthony left behind a 2-year-old daughter, and he had another child on the way.
Adalberto Lua is a Hispanic male who stands six feel tall and weighs approximately 150 lbs. He has black hair, brown eyes, and his last name is tattooed on the back of his neck.
Cops say Lua may have gained weight since the murder, and may have grown his hair longer. Authorities also say Lua has been spotted dressing in women’s clothes in public in order to conceal his identity.
Lua has family members in Bullhead City, Ariz., Fontana, Calif., and Mexicali, Mexico. Cops received tips that Lua may be hiding out in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, but detectives strongly believe he is still somewhere in the United States.
Thoughts? What I find interesting is although AMW only mentioned this murder, here's what I found from policemag.com when I googled his name:
"Bullhead City had experienced some gang crime in recent years but it had been several years since a homicide occurred. On Feb. 7, 2008, gang-banger Jaime Ramos Banuelos was found dead near Silver Creek Road and Bullhead Parkway. The Southside Boyz were the suspected murderers.
Boyz gang members in their early 20s — Adalberto Lua Jr., Santiago Sanchez and Jorge "Wicked" Guerreo — became the primary suspects. Adalberto Lua fled to Mexico where he's believed to be hiding."
The name of the gang is the Southside Boyz. Even articles from 2012 only mention the murder of Anthony Diaz, but according to this magazine, it's possible he was believed to be involved in another murder. (I can't verify the accuracy of the article, especially considering they say it was Bullhead City's first homicide in years when Diaz was killed a few months earlier. At the very least, initially it seems he may have been suspected)
As for the murder of Diaz, this might be one the most unnecessary murders I've ever come across. What did Anthony do exactly? He wanted to pick up his cousin? That warrants a death sentence?
Have no arguments with listed possible whereabouts. It complicates things as Lua is possibly dressing as a woman as AMW fugitives who may do so are notoriously hard to catch. (see Robert Lee King).
