I remember hearing a rumor that Adrian Rosales (Capture #588) was suffering from terminal brain cancer while in prison. I don't know where that rumor came from, because I just searched the Texas DOC and I found him there, still serving his 65-year prison sentence.

Other Texas captures are listed there as well. A couple aren't but whether those releases were via death or not, I can't tell.

#192 Alan David Hurtwitz, the first ever "unknown" AMW capture, has died from coronavirus after being released from a correctional facility back in May. I don't want to make any excuses for his criminal behavior but I feel this is an example of a tragic life story of someone who had a respected good career but let their addictions get the best of them and an example for others to hopefully not go down the same path. www.nytimes.com/2020/06/15/obituaries/alan-hurwitz-dead-coronavirus.html

Looking at that one,if the virus hadn't gotten him,the other things he was dying of likely would have. As to your point I agree. IMO his story is one of the sadder ones AMW has featured over the years because by all indications,Alan was a loving family man and a great educator until his addiction took over his life and destroyed it. There is no excuse for the crimes he committed but it should serve as a warning to everyone about the dangers of drugaddiction. Once it takes hold of you, there is no telling where you'll end up.

Interesting sort of update to AMW capture #709 Garfield Brown (I never thought we'd do updates on long-deceased captures), a man named Samuel Brownridge has just been released from prison has had his conviction vacated (he was previously released on parole) and apparently part of that was someone fingering Garfield Brown as the real killer in the case Brownridge was convicted in: www.nytimes.com/2020/06/23/nyregion/queens-da-exoneration-samuel-brownridge.html

I'm glad he got released, but wow, does this show that Garfield Brown was more violent than I think we all thought he was! When AWM aired him, he was wanted for two confirmed murders - one was in New York and the other was in Connecticut - and he had already served time for manslaughter after beating a concert-goer to death at a show where Brown was working as a bouncer. I think had he not been found, he would easily have been a contender for John Walsh's Top 10 of 2002.

We've seen other AMW Captures be linked to other crimes after they've been caught,Charles Manley and Joseph Crouch among others. The biggest shocker for me is still the Kelton Birdow case from Texas that AMW featured in 1997. Who would have thought someone who was originally profiled on AMW and other shows as one of the world's dumbest crooks for botched ATM heists would be linked to a double murder?

I missed the news about Crouch's other crimes. I read once about him gambling away his company funds and killing his wife with 4 gunshots just to spare her the embarrassment, but what else has he been linked to more recently?

He continued to gamble while on the run so to support his habit,he started robbing mini-marts which soon escalated to robbing banks. In total,he committed 40 armed robberies while on the run.

Wasn't Joe Crouch a profiled bad guy on the show "I (Almost) Got Away With It"? His full name reminded me of the show that I've mentioned.

Law enforcement called him the "Geritol Bandit" because he was an old man robbing banks. When police came to arrest him from the AMW tip, they found a list on his table with a whole bunch of bank names. When they asked him what it was, he said he wrote down the name of every bank he robbed because he was worried he'd forget one and would rob it a second time and get caught.

A couple of indirect captures from the AMW years were caught that way so it makes sense. Mind you,his other habits all but ensured he was going to get caught sooner or later.

Was looking up parole records and AMW Capture #295,Fonisha Michelle Jones(she of the infamous camera kick incident) was released earlier this year after serving 25 years of a 25 to life sentence. Have to say I'm surprised by that given the brutality of the crime she committed(killing a woman and her unborn baby)but I can't find anything that gives as to why they paroled her, just that they did. She is now a free woman and one can only hope for society's sake she isn't as dangerous now that she's almost 50 as she was when she was younger.

So much for being reformed, huh? He's now facing an attempted murder charge that very well could be upgraded soon as the man he stabbed is in critical condition. Here's hoping he is locked away for good this time.
