His defense was that he did drug her but didn't intend for her to die so it's no surprise he got convicted again. As for his punishment,I'm fine with letting him simply rot in prison since appeals for that will end a lot quicker then ones for capital punishment will. |

I get the frustration many folks have with the delays in Randy Halprin not getting the punishment he was sentenced to but the reality is Vickers Cunningham,the judge in his case is a massive bigot who used racial and religious slurs for Jews, Catholics, African Americans and Hispanics over the years.
As noted in one of the many articles written about the stays he has gotten,the question has to be asked what did Cunningham hate more about Halprin?
That he was part of a group that took a cop's life or that he was Jewish?
Any time that question has to be asked about the person who is in charge of making sure someone gets a fair trial,a new trial is in order,even when it's for a scumbag like Halprin.

Here's hoping the parole board listens to the people who are still afraid of her and deny her parole. Being older doesn't make some people less dangerous. Only them passing away does that. |

As many folks have likely heard by now,Matt Bevin the former Republican governor of KY decided on his way out the door to pardon more then 400 convicted criminals,many of them brutal killers,with some of the killers families giving him $$$ for doing so. And one of those killers was Kathie Harless,with Bevin's justification being that she "paid enough for the death of her newborn son.” B&*^^it is all I have to say in response to that. She was already an abusive and neglectful mother to her other children and rather then deal with the hassle of another one murdered him in cold blood. She deserved the life sentence she got and the fact she is now free from prison sickens me. Only good thing is she is too old to have any more kids and her children are all adults now so if they want to avoid her they can. One can only hope at her advanced age she won't be a danger to anyone else.

That's some bs right there. Bevin loved to talk about how pro-life he was. As with many of these folks however,that concern ends the minute the baby is born as shown by this case. It would have been one thing if Kathie Harless had been suffering from postpartum depression or another form of mental illness when she committed this crime,in which case I would have been far more inclined to support a pardon for her. But there is no indication that this murder happened for any reason other then the fact she simply didn't want another mouth to feed and rather then put the baby up for adoption decided murder was an acceptable solution to her problem. That's as cold blooded as it gets and now she's out. Makes me sick. |
