Orlando Maisonet (capture #120) has had his conviction vacated after alleged prosecutorial misconduct. He will have to be retired or released (he apparently was also acquitted in a 2005 re-trial so I'm confused since this doesn't this mean he should have been free already?) In any case regardless of what truly happened, I hope Maisonet is truly innocent if he's completely cleared, but it seems the DA screwed the pooch in the case regardless. www.philly.com/news/philly-wrongful-conviction-larry-krasner-roger-king-prosecutorial-misconduct-20190219.htmlSad to say but some people who become DA's only do so as a way to advance their political careers. Getting convictions to show how tough on crime they are so they can climb the latter matters more then making sure the right suspect is on trial and that constitutional rights are upheld. Others start out with noble intentions but as time goes on,they let the power they have and the need to win go to their heads. Justice become secondary to their egos. The latter appears to be the case here.

I wish I could think of a regulation that could stop prospective career politicians from using the prosecutor's office as an elevator, and find a better way to grade public attorneys than judging their win/loss record like professional boxers.

I agree and there also needs to be harsher punishment for DA's who are caught hiding evidence or other unethical things in order to win cases.

Wanted to provide an update on AMW Capture 726 Samuel Jones who was wanted for the murder of 26 year old Christina Paddock. After AMW viewers caught him in Chicago,he was sent back to Kansas where he was convicted of second degree murder. I'm not sure how long his sentence was but a check of Kansas prison records show that he died last year on February 24 of natural cases so he won't be out on the streets to hurt anyone ever again.

Not surprised to hear of Jones' death. I'm not entirely sure how old he was, but he struck be as being one of the older fugitives AMW had gone after.

oskynews.org/inmate-death-united-states-penitentiary-administrative-maximum-florence-co/Wanted to provide an update on another AMW Capture. In 1997 AMW Capture 472 Jamie Jarold McMahan and his stepbrother Christopher Michael Kauffman AMW Capture 473 went on a rampage in Iowa robbing a bank and killing 52 year old Barbara Garber and 18 year old Island Schultz. They were tried in federal court and given life sentences for their crime spree. Flash forward to November 13,2017,20 years and five months after their crime spree to Colorado's Supermax prison where Jamie McMahan took one more life. And that was his own via hanging. Kauffman is still alive but like his stepbrother, will only be leaving prison in a body bag and rightfully so.

Iowa was a rare state to see on AMW, but this was probably the most notorious crime the show ever profiled from the Hawkeye State. I actually live in Iowa (though I'm from the Chicago area originally).

Honestly I had no idea that Jamie and Kris were actually AMW captures at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember their case not from AMW but a series called "The FBI Files" episode title "Lost Boys" from season 4.

Certainly one of the biggest manhunts in Iowa history.

What was your cousin's town like when word reached them about the boys being nabbed in Pensacola, FL? Relief more then anything else. That and a lot of folks wanting the two killers to pay with their lives for what they had done, hence the reason they were tried in federal court under the carjacking statue since Iowa has no death penalty.
