Admin Note #1: Based on wanted location, our advice for anyone witb information on the whereabouts of Audel Cabrera-Penaloza would be to contact the Sandy Springs (Georgia) Police Department
A man who recently kidnapped his estranged wife and two children from their Georgia home is now wanted in North Carolina as a person of interest in a homicide.
On Saturday, April 5th, at 6:30 am, Officers say Audel Cabrera-Penaloza forced his estranged wife Victoria Flores-Medina their two daughters, ages 5 and 2, from their Sandy Springs, Georgia apartment.
Flores-Medina and her daughters were found hours later in a hotel in Norcross, Georgia, but Cabrera-Penaloza managed to get away.
According to a young woman who also lived in the house (I am assuming she is a relative but not 100 percent sure based on articles), after Cabrera-Penaloza's phone calls went unanswered, he went to the house himself, began banging on the door and yelling his wife's name.
His wife locked herself in her room, but unfortunately Cabrera-Penaloza managed to break the door down and drag her out the house.
As previously mentioned, Victoria and her children would be recovered, but they still fear Cabrera-Penaloza may come back.
This is probably with good reason as apparently Cabrera-Penaloza didn't stray too far away after the April incident. In June, several agencies including the US Marshals scoured Randolph County, Alabama searching for Cabrera-Penaloza. It was during this search that media reports revealed in addition to being wanted for the kidnapping his wife and children, Cabrera-Penaloza was a person of interest in a North Carolina homicide investigation. No more investigation relating to the homicide has been released in the media.
On Monday, June 22nd, 2015, at 7 am, Deputies were called to the Watts trailer park in Wedowee, Alabama. Authorities had received word that a Hispanic male sought by the marshals had been living in a trailer in the park for about a month. Residents knew him as "Victor" and also by the name "Hernandez."
Once officers arrived, the man fled out the back of the trailer and a search began for the next seven hours in the immediate area.
Although it is believed this man was Audel Cabrera-Penaloza there are currently no reports that he was found despite the intense manhunt.
Meanwhile, his wife and children along with North Carolina investigators are awaiting his capture.
Thoughts? This is obviously a very dangerous guy who based on how the kidnapping was described has a very violent temper. It also seems he may still be in the South and can still be caught as it doesn't seem he's fled to another country just yet.
