Juan Carlos Martinez, wanted for kidnapping and rape in two states, was aired on the April 8th, 2006 episode of America's Most Wanted. Below is the archived description of the case:
Not A Good Morning
In the morning of May 13, 2005 a 19-year-old woman, her brother and her boyfriend were hanging out at her house in York County, N.C. The woman's boyfriend was working on his car outside the house while she was keeping him company. Their peaceful morning was interrupted when she started running towards her house. Police say that she was really escaping from Juan Carlos Martinez, who was approaching her with a gun in his hand.
But her legs were not fast enough, and police say Juan Carlos Martinez grabbed her, pushed the gun into her rib cage and forced her to get in the car. Cops say Martinez also ordered her boyfriend to get in the driver's seat and to follow orders.
Crime Involved Two States
According to police Martinez directed the man to an apartment complex in Mint Hill, N.C. and then forced him to leave, under the threat that if he spoke to the police the woman's family would be hurt. The man complied with his captor and left, but his girlfriend's fate was now in Martinez's hands. Cops say Juan Carlos Martinez raped the young woman in a room at Stoney Pointe apartments, where he was living at that time.
However, the courageous victim was able to escape from her attacker. Still in fear and desperate, she begged a man who was in the parking lot to take her back to her house in South Carolina.
It was not until around 1:00 p.m. when the victim's bother and boyfriend contacted cops in Mint Hill, N.C. to report the incident. They got in touch with cops in York County and found out that the victim was being evaluated in the hospital.
Cops: Martinez Is No Stranger To Us
Juan Carlos Martinez was charged with two counts of kidnapping in South Carolina and two counts of kidnapping and one count of rape in North Carolina. But Cops say this was not Martinez's first encounter with law enforcement. They say Martinez went to jail once before for kidnapping the same victim. However, cops say the victim and her family were threatened and intimidated by Martinez's friends and the charges were dropped.
Cops don't know exactly where Martinez is. Besides the Carolinas, some tips have placed Martinez in Florida, Texas, Arizona and Idaho. Cops say that Martinez was seen carrying a semi-automatic 9mm handgun and believe that he may have ties to the MS-13 gang.
Thoughts? As far as I know, Martinez is still at large as of this posting date (7/2/2015), if anyone has proof otherwise, feel free to let us know. I feel this a very underrated case, this guy is dangerous, even a decade later.
P.S. We have an amwfans.com exclusive case on here featuring a guy named Juan Carlos Martinez. He is a different fugitive with the same name, wanted in Alabama for a different crime. Just to clear up any confusion.
