(Above photo credit: Archived LAPD Most Wanted website) (Moderator Note: Updated photo because LAPD has photo of wrong fugitive. See below for additional comments) Fugitive Profile as of June 28th, 2015: (based on LAPD Most Wanted website) Sex: Male Descent: Hispanic Height: 5' 0"/5' 3 Weight: 125 pounds Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Date of Birth: Sep 18, 1969 (45 years old as of this posting) Who to call if you've seen him: Detectives Valdez or Merlo, Rampart Homicide, 213-207-2051. After business hours, contact 213-485-4062.Jose Francisco Ventura is one of the most wanted fugitives on the LAPD's website. Below is their description of the case: On October 18, 1992, Jose Ventura attended a party given for the victim, Norma Ramos, his ex-girlfriend. During the party, the suspect asked to speak with the victim and she refused. The suspect drew a .38 caliber revolver and fired three times at the victim, striking her twice. Ventura fled the area in a 1987 Hyundai (in custody). Thoughts? I assume by in custody they meant the car. Admittedly not a lot to work with here, but there's always someone who knows where a suspect is. www.lapdonline.org/all_most_wanted/most_wanted_view/12754Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

As of June 10th, 2018, Ventura is still listed on the LAPD most wanted website, which granted is not the most updated website, but enough for me to reasonably assume that he's probably still wanted as of this update. (Most wanted profile link is the same as in the OP).

As of today, November 7, 2022, Jose Francisco Ventura's 1992 case in the Los Angeles County court records is currently in "case pending status". There are also no recorded events since it was filed. This is how I validate that fugitives out of Los Angeles County are still at large. I also discovered that the LAPD has the wrong photo on their website for this case. I have included the links to the old LAPD Most Wanted website and the old California Department of Justice website. Both list Jose Francisco Ventura and another fugitive named Jose Edgardo Ventura (wanted in a 1989 case according to Newspapers.com). The photo the LAPD currently has for the Jose Francisco Ventura case is actually the photo for Jose Edgardo Ventura. When the LAPD updated their website in 2006, they appear to have only posted the Jose Francisco Ventura case but mistakenly put the photo of Jose Edgardo Ventura. This is really sad but I'm glad that I finally noticed this. The only ones who should be blamed for this are the LAPD and not this website. I will post about Jose Edgardo Ventura next week if I determine that he is still a fugitive. - web.archive.org/web/20050407105328/http://www.lapdonline.org/get_involved/most_wanted/0alpha_most_wanted/v_wanted_index.htm- web.archive.org/web/20080612044202/http://ag.ca.gov/wanted/wanted_results.php- www.lacourt.org/criminalcasesummary/ui/ (Search "BA066533")
