Fugitive Profile as of August 20th, 2014 (Based on Oklahoma Department of Corrections website): NAME: ELLIS, TEDDY RACE: White SEX: Male DOB: 01-AUG-1964 HEIGHT: 5 FT. 8 IN. WEIGHT: 140 LBS. HAIR: Black EYES: Hazel TIPS: If you have any information on the whereabouts of Teddy Ellis, you are asked to call the Oklahoma DOC Internal Affairs Fugitive Apprehension Unit at (405)425-2570 OR TOLL FREE (866)363-1119Teddy Ellis is wanted for the murder of Dale Spurgin back in 1982. Ellis was a 17 year-old high school dropout who was driving around with two other guys when they spotted Spurgin hitchhiking. They picked him up and continued driving around. At one point, they stopped so Spurgin could buy them some beer. Ellis noticed his wad of cash, and the fact that Spurgin carried a black-powdered .38, excited Ellis. While driving, Ellis asked Spurgin to let him try out his gun; Spurgin agreed. Instead of shooting over a bridge they had reached, Ellis shot Spurgin twice in the head and back, killing him. If I recall correctly from the reenactment, Spurgin only had about $20 on him. Ellis was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. In 1986, Ellis and four other inmates crawled through a storm drain and cut through a fence, escaping the prison. I use to live in Oklahoma; given how barren and dead some places are, I can see Ellis still staying in Oklahoma, or maybe some neighboring state. My guess is that he's probably working as a laborer. Thoughts? UPDATE from site admin: As of July 26th, 2018, Ellis is still mentioned on the Oklahoma DOC website as one of their "15 Most Wanted" escapees: okoffender.doc.ok.gov/search?Fugitives=true&MostWanted=trueAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I remember Ellis was on a segment AMW experimented with called "Cold Case" with still wanted fugitives and their late 80's/early 90's AMW re-enactments aired in full (anyone remember the others besides Ellis?). It was unsuccessful in leading to any captures and discontinued.
As for Ellis, I mean it really is a crap shoot trying to figure out where he may be. I take it if alive he's still living in the sticks somewhere, whether it be Oklahoma or a neighboring midwestern state

I believe the others were William Fischer, Donald Santini, John Gentry, and Adam Zachs. Those are the ones off the top of my head.
And I believe Ellis is probably still alive. He was relatively young at the time.

One thing though is that they absolutely need a new age-progression photo of him. The one they have now is horrible

One thing though is that they absolutely need a new age-progression photo of him. The one they have now is horrible His photo made it look like he turned into a zombie. It's amazing that after the success with John List in 1989, I can't think of one example of an age-enhanced photo or bust besides him getting someone caught since.

I understand not everyone's going to be as talented as Frank Bender, but I still don't get how they got that out of his old mugshot

Frank Bender was one of a kind. But it's amazing how in this and many other cases just how bad some of the age-progressed photos are.

A couple of years ago, I had this dream and during one part if it, I was on the AMW achieves site. Apparently, in my dream the site could go back to like the early 90s. Anyway I was looking up old capture reports and one stated that Ellis' skeletal remains were found in some woods in Nebraska in 1996. I've always wondered if that may have been the case, but I never really took it seriously. How weird it would be though, if it was true?

That actually sounds scarily realistic.

I never really took it seriously, since Ellis has always been one of those fugitives I'm sure is still alive.

He doesn't seem too bright to me. Either he is getting a ton of help or he is dead.

The black tear drop tattoo under the eye...
Isn't that a prison thing that murderers usually get with the number of tear drops equaling the number of murder victims that the convict was convicted of killing?
That alone should make Ellis stand out in a crowd.

That alone should make Ellis stand out in a crowd. Yes that should but if he was a member of a motorcycle gang and pissed one of , then you can assume, he is dead. And if his skeletal remains were found in 1996 in Nebraska, were they clearly identified as belonging to Ellis ?
