Va. Police Seeking Attempted Va. Rapist
Virginia police are looking for a sex offender who they say failed to register in Henrico County -- and no one's seen him since 2006.
In 1995, police say Gustav Schilling donned a mask and grabbed a woman who was attending a concert. According to police, he dragged the woman into the woods where he attempted to rape her, but the victim managed to escape and notified authorities.
Investigators quickly cuffed Schilling, who was convicted of abduction and attempted rape. After serving out his prison sentence, Schilling was put on probation, during which officials say he drove out to neighborhoods and peeped through the windows of unsuspecting residents.
Police say the GPS monitor Schilling was ordered to wear stopped working in 2005, and his employer was the last person to see him Aug. 14, 2006.
Cops: Schilling Likely To Offend Again
Police tell AMW that Schilling likes to frequent bars and stalk women as they leave, often going as far as to flash his victims on some occasions.
“I feel confident that where ever this guy is, he is offending,” said Virginia State Police Senior Special Agent Edward Kellam Jr.
Schilling is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and light brown hair, and authorities say Schilling frequently wears a sailor or “Gilligan” hat.
Before disappearing, Schilling worked for an interior design company and also has experience doing home improvement. Police believe he may be working in either of these fields today.
Investigators believe Schilling is laying low in Florida, specifically the Miami or Tampa Bay areas. Before he disappeared, he drove a white 1992 Plymouth van with Virginia license plate JVP-2088.
Thoughts? What concerns me is how cops were convinced Schilling would strike again, it's nearly a decade later, and he's still unaccounted for.
