In 2007 and 2008, AMW aired fugitive Miguel Nunez-Castaneda. In 2006, Miguel was named the prime suspect in the 2003 murder of 16-year old Mexican national Yesenia Nungaray in Alameda County, California. Yesenia was previously known only as a Jane Doe who was found in a canvas bag behind a restaurant. Miguel was interviewed in 2006 because he had shared a house with Yesenia. He fled 24 hours later. Later in that year, authorities identified her by going to her hometown in Mexico. Now it's 2013 and Miguel is still wanted. A 2010 article mentions that Miguel was believed to be hiding in a cave near where he and Yesenia were originally from in Mexico. castrovalley.patch.com/articles/jane-doe-case-still-only-half-solvedwww.contracostatimes.com/search/ci_14449332?IADID=Search-www.contracostatimes.com-www.contracostatimes.comAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Nunez-Castaneda is underrated considering he's probably fled to Mexico and will need an exact address to apprehend. He was my 6th most wanted fugitive of '007. I've heard that the motive was an argument over an unknown subject boiled over, and he killed her by stuffing a rag down her throat. He probably faces almost a century in prison if convicted. Further complicating the manhunt is that he speaks very broken English, if any English at all.

Saw one of those two airings on YouTube. According to the airing, this was before the Mexican cave lead, Castaneda was believed to be traveling back and forth between Mexico and the United States. He has ties to Las Vegas, Southern California, and the San Francisco Bay area. He could be working in a restaurant, and speaks very broken English.
P.S. The Detective in this case did an amazing job at least of solving the unknown female/assailant aspect of this case, traveling to a small town outside of Guadalajara and gathering information for three days. All that's needed for justice is to finally find and convict Nunez-Castaneda.

For some reason I thought we had already discussed this but this overall case (as a Jane Doe, Yesenia's identity, and search for Castaneda) was profiled on CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" about a decade ago. I know they still rerun the episode on the ID channel. Here is the YouTube link to the episode which still works as of this posting date. (11/27/2017). (I'd watch it while you can though since you never know) m.youtube.com/watch?v=QgoLdYSu4pkAlso an article states Mexico has only put forth meager effort to find Castaneda and will not extradite him if he faces the death penalty. I don't know if the former is true but the latter part is and is usually standard policy for Mexico to only extradite if there's no death penalty if a fugitive is wanted for murder. I've stated on this forum, I'm personally torn on the death penalty. I'm generally against it because of the potential of putting someone wrongfully convicted to death. On the other hand, there are some who definitely deserve it if guilty. Castaneda is one of those examples. However, if dropping it means getting Castaneda back, I say do it. Better to have him rot in jail for a long time than to let him get away with it completely. www.scrawldrawl.com/mexico-wont-extradite-a-murderer/P.S. Based on the high-profile nature of this case, I feel it is safe to assume that Nunez-Castaneda is still at large as of this update (11/27/2017).
