BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested two men and are looking for a third in connection to a double homicide that happened on May 18, 2014 on Gardere Ln.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported the shooting happened at an apartment on Gardere Lane at Ned Avenue in Baton Rouge.
The victims were identified as Orok Ironbar, 32, and Russell Celestin, 31, both of Baton Rouge.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, the spokeswoman for EBRSO, said the two men were found shot in Ironbar's apartment. She said Ironbar was already dead when authorities arrived on the scene.
She added Celestin was rushed to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.
Witnesses reported sheriff's deputies started arriving in the area just after midnight.
"We received a call around 10 p.m. about shots fired in the area. The shot spotter went off, but it was for a different address," said Hicks. "Deputies questioned residents in the apartment complex and were told that they did not hear gunshots. The victims' roommate arrived home around midnight and found them shot. Deputies questioned the residents of the apartment complex and again, they said they didn't hear anything."
Charles Lanaute, 18, of St. Gabriel, LA was arrested early Wednesday morning and booked for armed robbery and two counts of first degree murder. No bond has been set.
Darrius Montel Miller, 21, of St. Gabriel, LA turned himself in to detectives Wednesday for armed robbery and two counts of first degree murder.
Detectives are still looking for Plug Lanaute, 19, of St. Gabriel, LA. for armed robbery and two counts of first degree murder.
According to reports Charles Lanaute, Plug Lanaute and Miller went to the victim's residence to sell marijuana. When they arrived Charles Lanaute alleged that he stayed downstairs with the marijuana while Miller and Plug Lanaute went upstairs into the apartment. Charles alleged Miller and Plug Lanaute shot both the victims and robbed them. The incident is still under investigation.
Anyone with information as to Plug Lanaute's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867) anonymously.
Thoughts? Plug Lanaute is an interesting contradiction as a fugitive. I found what I think is the guy's Facebook page (I don't think I'm giving anything away tip-wise, it's there if you google his name- I apologize if it's just a guy with the same name but "Plug Lanaute" I assume is pretty uncommon) and there are posts where he seems to be a self-proclaimed thug and bragging about it. Then there's other posts where he's asking God to watch over him and asking God to forgive him for his sins. These posts were made before the alleged murders, but he even made posts afterwards. (I assume it wasn't until later in the year when he was officially charged.)
What I do know is while those who believe in God mostly believe he is a forgiving God, it doesn't mean you get to not be punished for your actions on Earth. And purchasing weed, while still illegal in Louisiana, does not mean Orok and Russell deserved to be murdered. And Lanaute needs to pay if he's guilty of the crime he's accused of.
According to a few articles, police believe Lanaute may be in the St. John's Parish area of Louisiana. If you know where is, call Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers immediately.
