The FBI has now joined the search for missing North Carolina 19-year old Sarah Nicole Graham.
Graham went missing Feb. 4 and several massive searches have been held for her since she disappeared.
Deputies have also entered her in a national database for missing persons.
Graham is the daughter of a Robeson County Sheriff's deputy and had moved to the area from Texas about six months ago, according to Major Anthony Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.
Graham was last seen February 4 around 6:30 a.m. when she left her home on Centerville Church Road in the Fairmont community to drive to work at the Wal-mart in Pembroke, but never showed up for work.
Deputies got a call about a suspicious vehicle found around 12:15 that afternoon and found that her car had been abandoned in a wheat field near the edge of the tree line on East McDonald Road near I-95 in Fairmont.
According to reports, Sarah's stepmother, Connie Graham, was also a Sheriff's Deputy. However, she was fired on March 18th of this year. The Robeson County Sheriff's Office said the move was unrelated to Sara Graham's disappearance.
Sources close to the investigation told a local North Carolina news staion, however, that the FBI, which joined the investigation early this month, considers Connie Graham a suspect in the case, adding that an arrest may be made and charges filed soon.
The Sheriff also said he couldn't release details of the investigation.
Thoughts? Obviously the facts of the day of Sara's disappearance remain a mystery. And while one report focuses on Connie Graham, it's important that we assume Sara is a missing person and not deceased until it's proven otherwise. Because it's the only way to find her if she's still alive. I'm not in a position to pass judgment on anyone in this case yet, in part because I usually don't, but also because there is a surprising lack of media coverage to comment and/or theorize adequately. (Considering the case made the FBI's website, you'd think there'd be more coverage). I just hope by some miracle Sara is found or located.
