Lynn Cozart was aired on the August 26th, 2006 episode of America's Most Wanted. Below is the archive desciption of his case:
Ten Years Of Hell For Three Children
From 1984 to 1994, Lynn Owen Cozart sexually molested a boy and two girls, several times. It was not until May 11, 1995, that the mother of the children came forward and told the Pennsylvania State Police what this sick man had been doing to her children.
Cozart was charged in Beaver County, Pa. for molesting the kids; and almost a year later, on February 15, 1996 Cozart was found guilty of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Endangering the Welfare of Children and three counts of Indecent Assault.
But when it came time for justice to take its course, Cozart vanished. Cops say he didn't appear for his sentencing and has been a fugitive since April 8, 1996.
Cozart is an avid hunter and has ties to East Liverpool, Ohio and Austin, Texas. He may have some rifles and shotguns with him. Cozart had his spleen removed, so he has a large scar on his upper abdomen.
Thoughts? I think of course the biggest WTF? is failure to appear for sentence. Why the heck was he even able to have that option. He was convicted of molesting three children. Of course he was going to run. It might be two decades later, but the good news is most of Cozart's possible whereabouts are in the states. Whether he's in the U.S. or abroad, there is a serious risk he could have harmed more children if he hasn't already.
