The serious problem with runaway teenagers is that living a life as a runaway can be extremely dangerous, forced to be homeless, associating with drug users and gang members, being raped and in rare cases murdered. I'm assuming that Clayton and Rodney have no job experience so how are they surviving on the run?
If they are with Rodney Scott's family in Knoxville, then where would they be living and could law enforcement just put surveillance on known residences?

The two of them (especially Rodney) look exhausted and underfed. That makes me even more concerned about their whereabouts. If they tried to survive in the wilderness, that would be scary because they were only teens and they didn't seem healthy to begin with. If they tried to survive in some urban slum, even worse, because they seem defenceless against the myriad types of criminals who could've taken advantage of them. My only hope for them being alive is if they ran off to another family's home. Then I have to ask: If there was anything wrong with their home lives before, wouldn't investigators have found out by now?

I hope Clayton and Rodney will eventually return home on their own. I realize they wanted to run away at first, but hopefully they will realize everyone is looking for them because they are worried about them.

Hi I'm Rodney's Scott's aunt. He is 14yrs old. And they have it all wrong. The boys were at a juvenile center. Not their home. Rodney was with a foster parent before and Rodney had got in trouble and foster parent tried to talk Rodney's mom into letting him keep and hide Rodney so he wouldn't get in trouble. Of course she said no and had him placed there. But 45 mins before they escaped Rodney was on phone with foster parent. Rodney would not leave in my dark, which he is terrified of,in 5 degree weather with no shoes or jacket unless someone was waiting on him. Every lead goes back to foster parent which works for a mysterious herbal co. that travels. I just hope they are safe and hiding and not being exploited. The foster parent has hidden his nephew for a year and his current wife until she turned of age and married her. It's so aggravating not being able to do anything.

Hi angelwings,
Thanks for joining the forum. Interesting to know the original media reports got the story wrong and they didn't leave from home. I assume the police know foster parent but I'm assuming they can't do anything without 100 percent definitive proof right?
I'm sorry for the frustrations but I'm also hoping they're safe and not being exploited as well. I also hope they can be recovered soon. Good luck.

The authority s do have to be 100% about foster parent. The foster parent said the authorities are harassing and stressing him out and threatening to sue. But u figure that foster parent that called Rodney son would want to help find him. Everything comes out of the wash at some time. Prayers for everyone going thru rough time.

The NCMEC sometimes this year or last year released images of what Clayton McCarter and Rodney Scott might look like at ages 18 and 16. McCarter (18, circa 2016 or 2017): Scott (16, circa 2016 or 2017):
