Alex Torres was a seventh grader student in Corpus Christi when on Jan 13, 2015, he was at his apartment alone while a guardian went to the store. Authorities say that's when either a man or Alex opened the door and Alex was shot in the head. Afterwards, witnesses saw two men get into a dark car and drive off. Alex later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Thoughts? Sadly there is very little to work with in this murder of a 13-year old child. A reported tip led authorities to search a local lake but that didn't turn up anything, so it shows how difficult this could be to solve. As far as a motive, since two people were seen running away, this sounds like a targeted attack to me. Was Alex or anyone else in his family in trouble with anyone, could this have been a case of mistaken identity?
