(Above photo credit: New Brighton P.D. archived website) On the afternoon of Friday, January 29th, 2010 the body of longtime New Brighton resident and retired New Brighton Firefighter Lee Allen Goodwin was found by a family member deceased in his home in the 800 block of 2nd Street, NW.
Mr. Goodwin’s wallet was recovered from a trash dumpster located behind 1431 Silver Lake Rd, in New Brighton. The cash and credit cards were taken before the wallet was discarded in the trash dumpster. Other property was removed from Goodwin’s residence which authorities hope can be located as it may provide clues to the suspect(s) in this case.
Thoughts? This is obscure case is from my hometown. Robbery seems like the likely motive, and I know my hometown and lemme tell you that there is an area about a half a mile from where this man lived that any smart citizen with his right mind would stay away from. Although sadly I can find hardly any information on this case other than the link listed here.

It sounds like a robbery turned murder. Sadly not many other clues in this case. Sad to see this man who dedicated himself to saving lives killed like that.

Sadly unsolved crimes with no leads to work with can remain unsolved for years. A couple of comments regarding the investigation though. First, authorities say that stolen property from Lee's home could identify the perpretrator's, so why haven't they mentioned what the items are? Second, were the stolen credit cards used in a location with surveillance footage? Finally, were any fingerprints or DNA samples recovered from his wallet or the entry point to which the perpretrator's got into the home?

I'd like to assume that those pieces of information have been withheld for good reasons. And yes, that area described where the credit cards were found I believe does have surveillance cameras. But it is tucked back near the woods and if the credit cards were dumped there at night(which they probably were), we will be very lucky if we can see anything.

I was wondering if there had been new deveoppments in that case. Could that be that Lee knew his murderer?

I was wondering if there had been new deveoppments in that case. Could that be that Lee knew his murderer? I just checked and sadly there has not been. And no, I honestly doubt that he did and that I think is the entire problem behind this case. Murders (and crimes in genearal) among those who do not know each other are so much more difficult to solve. And any smart criminal wouldn't rob someone they know or knew personally, and robbery seems like the original motive here.
