(Above photo credit: Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) Payam Zanjanipour is one of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI)'s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives. Below is their website descriptions of his alleged offenses: "Payam Zanjanipour is wanted by the Hendersonville Police Department for 3 counts of Rape. On three separate dates in June, July and September 2008, Zanjanipour raped 3 different victims. All the victims describe as being on Zanjanipour's houseboat and blacking out after consuming a drink. All the victim's also describe being taken to a bedroom and feeling drugged when the rape took place. Payam Zanjanipour had unlawful sexual intercourse with each victim without consent and by use of force or while the victim was physically helpless. Payam Zanjanipour has been added to the TBI's Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest." Thoughts? Additional note first, Zanjanipour was arrested in 1999 for possessing methamphetamine with intent. I think most on this forum probably immediately thought of AMW fugitive Ronald Fischer since this case is very similar to his. What is scary is Zanjanipour hasn't been since 2008, and nothing seemed to stop him from allegedly drugging and raping women multiple times back then. That is why it's imperative he be caught so he doesn't harm any other women, and fingers crossed that he hasn't already. www.tbi.tn.gov/news_room/documents/TBIAddsRapeSuspecttoTopTenMostWanted.pdfwww.tbi.state.tn.us/fugitives/documents/USTN_ZanjanipourPayam_000.pdfUPDATE: As of July 28th, 2018, Zanjanipour is still one of the TBI's top ten most wanted fugitives: www.tn.gov/tbi/tbis-top-10-most-wanted.htmlAdmin Note #1: According to the TBI website & online articles, anyone with information on the whereabouts of Payam Zanjanipour is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

This is a very dangerous serial rapist and I'm quite surprised he hasn't gotten national publicity until this forum thread. I checked online to see the name origin for "Zanjanipour" and found that the last name may be Iranian. If he is Iranian and fled there then that would be a problem as the US has no extradition treaty with the Middle Eastern nation.

I Google searched the last name and origin and came back with one name in Iran as well. A small sample size but even one suggests Payam might be of Middle Eastern descent- which does complicate matters if he fled the country.

Its funny I ran across this because I never delete numbers from my contacts and somehow after all these years and with the use of backup assistant every time I got a new phone, I found his old number in it just the other day and didn't even realize it was still there. He went by Mario Zanjani though. My guess is he fled the country. He spoke 6 languages. He was part Arabic and that was one of the languages he spoke. Likely involved in organized crime, could easily disappear.

Hi tabbykat, Thanks for joining and for the new info!
I imagine it must be scary to have known this guy considering what he is accused of.
Do you know what other languages he spoke?

Spanish for sure because I have spoken to him in it. I forget what else. His family had some car dealerships in Nashville but I don't know where, I think one was on Nolensville Rd. I'm sure TBI knows though.

Oh yeah I'm sure TBI knows. Sounds to me like Mario definitely had the means to flee the country and I agree he likely fled.
Hopefully wherever he is, it's in a place where he can be extradited.

He had more than enough money. Drove a Ferrari and a Hummer H2, had that houseboat and that condo at the Virdian. His family was well off, but he claimed ties to organized crime. I'd say with his ethnic looks, he could blend in easily in many different countries.

He wasn't on social media or anything but at the time Facebook wasn't around, Myspace was popular.. but I never recall seeing him in anyone's pictures either, very strange.

Found out that as of July 9th, 2022, there is a federal UFAP warrant for Zanjanipour (the details of this case are even more disgusting than the TBI description but I won't get into that). On November 22, 2016, records were received indicating that Zanjanipour had departedthe United States through JFK airport located in New York, New York on September 10, 2008, and had arrived in Ataturk, Turkey on September 11, 2008. Hence, why the UFAP warrant was issued in 2017. It is unclear what the odds are of extradition is, granted this was a few years ago but Turkey was vowing not to extradite any fugitives back to the U.S. until they sent back a man they blamed for a failed military coup (not to mention their current President being a controversial figure himself). However, sometimes these guys take risks and travel out of the country anyway so it's all we can hope for at this point. ecf.tnmd.uscourts.gov/doc1/16913541933www.cbc.ca/news/world/erdogan-turkey-us-gulen-1.4482450

Zanjanipour has been removed from the TBI Most Wanted list but he still has a UFAP warrant in PACER as of 7/1/2024.

Well Turkish and American ties have improved significantly and he may face justice soon like the Turkish mother and son who killed someone in a vehicular homicide and the department of justice and state have agreed to send them back to face trial after there apprehension in new York city

After all turkey ratified NATO members Sweden and Finland who edrogan were holding up Sweden and Finland do to the extradition of kurdish "terrorists" who disagreed with the Turkish government but the US asked them to allow them in and they relented and I quotation marks when saying because they were just people who disagreed with the Turkish government but that's a story for another time
