(Left: Julian Hernandez (missing) at age 5 Middle: Age-progressed to 16 photo Right: Bobby Hernandez (suspected abductor) credit: Charley Project) Julian Hernandez has been missing since August 28th, 2002 from Birmingham, Alabama. Below is the Charley Project description of his case: Julian was last seen in Birmingham, Alabama on August 28, 2002. His father, Bobby Hernandez, agreed to take him to preschool. Instead, he withdrew cash from his bank accounts and fled with Julian, taking some the child's clothing, his stuffed Orca whale, and his soft baby afghan. A photograph and vital statistics for Bobby are posted below this case summary. Bobby and and Julian may be traveling in a white 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with the Alabama license plate number 1B4649C. They are thought to be in a coastal area with a warm climate. Possible destinations include Guam, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or the Tampa or Key West areas of Florida. Julian enjoys fishing, watching movies, and eating at Chuck E Cheese pizza restaurant franchises. His case remains unsolved. Thoughts? I had a few exclusive known-abductor cases on the short list, but I noticed Julian's 18th birthday is today which is why I chose his case to profile. I am surprised that to the best knowledge this case was never on AMW, since unlike with other cases, there's actually a suspected kidnapper to work with. Admittedly not the best photo, just one, but it's better than what most cold case missing child cases have. If there's anything that may help tip-wise it's that Bobby, I'm not trying to make a joke but it will probably come out sounding that way, has a lengthy "Jay Leno"-ish chin. It's a somewhat distinguishing physical characteristic we can draw from a tiny photo. As far as whereabouts, the good news is Bobby likely took Julian to another state or U.S. territory, so there's still a chance of them being recognized in the states. Puerto Rico is one thing, but Guam is so far away from the US mainland that it may be rather challenging to locate these two if Bobby fled with Juluan to there. Hopefully they're residing closer by in either Florida or Puerto Rico where locating them would be easier.

Julian has been recovered in Cleveland, Ohio!!!!!! The break in the case apparently came when Julian, now 18, started applying for colleges. His social security number couldn't be verified. With the help of his high school guidance counselor, he learned he was actually a missing child. Julian has now been located and Bobby has been arrested. Also, I doubt it since apparently Julian learned himself, but I forwarded an anonymous tip from a forum reader a few months ago on this case. OF COURSE, this is the frigging day our private e-mail server has been down for over 10 hours. So if there's any chance at all this is a direct capture/recovery, or if anyone has been e-mailing me about this case to let us know about the resolution, we unfortunately cannot access our private e-mail at the moment to find out. We apologize and have not ignored any e-mails, we just can't access them at the moment. www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cleveland/2015/11/05/child-abducted-2002-found-cleveland/75178248/www.cnn.com/2015/11/04/us/missing-boy-found-alabama-ohio/

Also, I want to stress just like when the mother abducts a child, this was also an abduction and a kidnapping, no matter which way you slice it. Mother, or father, child alienation and/or abduction and denying another parent custodial rights is not only wrong but a crime so anyone who tries to defend Bobby is an idiot.

I was just on CNN's home page and learned about this! While I'm very happy for Julian's family (aside from dad of course), I just hope that they can reunite successfully with Julian after all these years. This gives so much hope that other parental abduction victims can learn about their cases and return to their families that miss them so badly.
