"Juan Ruben Rodriguez was shot at a party nearly 15 years ago, but Sandra Medina feels the pain of her son’s death as keenly today as if no time had passed. Just the mention of her son’s name before a news conference at Homicide Survivors on Friday morning caused her to sob. “To me it’s like it just happened yesterday,” Medina said. “We all make mistakes in life, but he was very loving and caring. He was a good kid. He was kind. He had a good heart.” A $1,000 reward is being offered for information about Anthony Seth Burroughs’ whereabouts, but Medina is organizing a series of fundraisers in the next few months with a goal of increasing the reward to $10,000. Medina was joined at the news conference by one of her son’s three daughters, 15-year-old Myah Rodriguez. “It was hard growing up without a dad,” Myah said. “I never really knew how it felt” to have a father. Rodriguez, 19, was at a party on the west side April 30, 2000, when he got into a fight and was shot twice. Burroughs was charged with first-degree murder, but fled the country immediately after the shooting, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Jennifer Rippey, who was assigned to the case last year. Within 24 hours of the slaying, Burroughs fled to Mexico, returned to Tucson, flew from Phoenix to Los Angeles and went on to the Philippines, Rippey said. Burroughs’ mother is from the Philippines and he still has family there, but after 14 years, his whereabouts are unknown. “He likely assumed a new identity. There’s no record of him after early May 2000,” Rippey said. Burroughs still has family in Tucson and California. At the time of the shooting, Burroughs was 21. He weighed about 200 pounds and stands 5-feet-7-inches tall. He has black hair and brown eyes and had several tattoos — the name “Adriana” on his chest, “Burroughs” on his back, “Hate” on his left arm and “Love” on his right arm. His birth date is March 13, 1979. He also has a scar on his right foot, a gunshot wound from the night of the party. Rodriguez was shot just before 4 a.m. at a party in the 1200 block of South Camino Santiago near West Starr Pass and South La Cholla boulevards. About 200 people were at the party dancing and singing when “Tony and Ruben exchanged words and Tony fired,” Rippey said. She did not know if the men were acquaintances since Burroughs lived on Tucson’s east side and Rodriguez lived on the south side. “Tony committed a homicide. He’s a violent individual,” Rippey said. Online court records show Burroughs was found guilty of assault in 1998, and he had been found guilty multiple times in 1998 and 1999 of supplying alcohol to minors." Thoughts? I also found a Facebook page dedicated to finding Anthony "Tony" Burroughs which is where I got the wanted poster from. I hope they don't mind but after seeing that I really wanted to bring this case to light on a national level. I'll say this- arguments aren't worth it. Sometimes it's best to let things go because you never know if the other guy has a gun, has a knife, etc. Walking away doesn't make you any less of a man- it makes you the better man. I'll also say this- NOTHING excuses what happened to Juan Rodriguez. He was a 19-year old kid that got into a verbal argument with someone at a party. It's not the first time that has ever happened with an adult of any age, and to a lose a life over such a thing is completely senseless. Burroughs is probably still in the Philipines in my opinion. But if you know where he is, anywhere in the world, you've got to do the right thing and call 88-Crime or the US Marshals at 1-877-WANTED-2. Below is a larger picture of Burroughs which may help with recognition. www.facebook.com/pages/Find-Tony-Burroughs/458886280922741tucson.com/news/blogs/police-beat/reward-offered-for-tip-in--year-old-killing/article_65495c4e-58ca-5745-be82-4396d74b8e65.htmlraycomnbc.worldnow.com/story/24696936/a-west-side-story-14-years-laterAdmin Note #1: According to his U.S. Marshals Top 15 online wanted poster, anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anthony "Tony" Burroughs should contact the nearest U.S. Marshals Service office or call the U.S. Marshals Service Communications center at 1-800-336-0102.Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Also since I posted a picture of Burroughs I figured it was only fair to post a picture of Juan Ruben Rodriguez from the news article- as a reminder of who this case is really about- Juan was a son, a loved one. Think about your own children, your own friends, your own family and do the right thing if you know anything about this case:

Wow, a non-AMW/The Hunt fugitive case that I've never heard of before. Yes, it certainly isn't rare for young adults (especially men) to get into arguments, but that doesn't excuse committing murder as a result. With no decent leads in 15 years, Burroughs is probably in the Philippines.
Also wanted to mention that Pima County Crimestoppers has numerous fugitives listed on their website, including many fugitives wanted for murder, but for some reason do not have Tony Burroughs listed there, so I'm like, why did they forget to put him there?

Moving this case to fugitives on tv since apparently Burroughs will be profiled on The Hunt's upcoming season.

According to the CNN report, Anthony Burroughs was confirmed to have been in the Philippines as late as 2014. That's good since in many cold case manhunts, we have no confirmed record of where most of the fugitives have been since going on the run.

Nice, guess they wanted to wait for The Hunt in order to add him. It makes sense considering the recent sightings (I think they said a strip club in the Philippines is where he may have been seen last.)

I am in shock that he's been added, The gap from when he went on the run to when he's added, Burroughs breaks the record at 16 years.
I guess adding him prior to the episode would increase the publicity which is a plus however I would have hoped the same would have happened with the Ten Most Wanted list but this is good enough.
Hopefully he can be the Marshals first capture this year, with all the sightings I'm hopeful his time is coming.

It's very rare for the Marshals to add a fugitive wanted for more than a decade as opposed to the FBI who has done that a little more often. (Even William Greer was at the decade mark but not more than a decade). However, there was sightings/recent information about his hiding in the Philippines as recently as two years ago. I think this is why he's a rare cold case addition to the list. He's a decade-plus fugitive but one with information on whereabouts that's only two years old.

Some significant updates from The Hunt airing tonight:
-Burroughs was arrested in 2003 in Manila for illegally carrying a concealed weapon in a mall. But he skipped out on those charges. So technically he has been a fugitive for over a dozen years in the Philippines as well.
-Burroughs reportedly would set up and rob women in a strip club in Manilla with an accomplice.
So not that the murder of Ruben wasn't tragic in itself and enough to highlight how dangerous Burroughs is, he's an even worse fugitive than we may have initially thought.
He apparently fled further underground after correspondence with his mother was found in 2014. So in my opinion it's possible he fled back to the states. But nothing stopped him from staying in the Philippines even as a technical wanted fugitive there in the first place.

Ugh. Hopefully this doesn't affect his capture but the President of the Philippines apparently just let out a war of words with President Obama.
Couldn't happen at a worse possible time right after The Hunt airs the Burroughs case.
But then again the Philippines apparently doesn't want him there either...

Since Burroughs was arrested in the Philippines in the early 2000s the same they did with Fidel Urbina and see if they can obtain his mugshot so tourists can bring in tips in case they see him as well heck even use photos that his mother may have received in the boxes of evidence, to intensify the search.
Also I must add that if he is involved in any drugs or other criminal activities, the President of The Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte will likely take care of him himself as we've seen it happen in that country since he took office this past June.

The President of the Philippines (Rodrigo Duterte) is a bit of an eccentric to say the least.... and the relationship with the U.S. seems is progressively getting. We can only hope this doesn't complicate the Burroughs case.
