BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a man accused of shooting and killing a 26-year-old man in east Bakersfield in September.
KCSO said 40-year-old Israel Castillo-Ramirez is the alleged suspect. He is described as 5’8” tall, 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
According to KCSO, on September 22, 2024, at around 4 a.m., Kevin Cortez was shot in the 700 block of McClean Avenue during a party.
The coroner’s report said he was taken to Kern Medical where he later died.
Anyone with information related to the investigation or location of Castillo-Ramirez, they are asked to call KCSO at 661-861-3110, Detective Nunez at 661-392-4376 or the Secret Witness Line at 661-322-4040.
A GoFundMe was created for Cortez. It said, "Kevin was an amazing individual who cared deeply for his family and friends. Kevin leaves behind his partner Melinda, his mother, five sisters, and three brothers, along with many close friends who deeply cared for and loved him."

Thoughts? As far as I can tell, Castillo-Ramirez is still at large as of today’s posting date (November 30th, 2024) since the above article is from only a little over a week ago with no updates about a capture that I could find online since. However, if that status has since changed and/or changes in the future, anyone is more than welcome to let us know.
