LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. — A man was shot and killed in Warren County on Friday. Police are searching for an identified suspect believed to be the victim's neighbor.
Warren County Emergency Services responded to a call at the 29000 block of Bobwhite Lane around 6:30 a.m. where a 49-year-old man was lying on the ground dead, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.
James Frazer, 38, has been identified as the suspect by the Warren County Sheriff's Department. Deputies said Frazer was a neighbor and acquaintance of the victim.
Investigators said they don't think Frazer is in the woods, entering random houses or attempting contact with unknown persons.
Deputies said Frazer has been moving with help from friends to have temporary shelter. They said recently, he has been to locations on Bobwhite Lane, Highway J and Mistic Drive within Wright City. He was last seen near Linns Mill Road and Highway U in Lincoln County.
He is described as being 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds with brown hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black ball cap, dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans work boots, the Warren County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators with the Warren County Sheriff's Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are communicating with family and friends to encourage Frazer to turn himself in, according to police.
Earlier on Saturday, the sheriff's department said Frazer was armed and dangerous. Later Saturday night, they said, "At this time. we have no information that Frazer is still armed."
The department said investigators located the weapons earlier Saturday, hidden in the woods behind the residence, but said, "Due to the nature of the incident, the public is still warned to exercise extreme caution regarding the subject."
Police are asking for the public's help. If you know of Frazer's whereabouts contact Warren County Emergency Services at 636-456-7088.
