A Toronto man who is wanted on first degree murder charges in the deaths of two Ottawa brothers is 10th on a list of Canada’s most wanted fugitives released Tuesday.
A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Mohamed Shire, 34, under the Bolo program, an initiative that is leveraging social media and technology to encourage members of the public to be on the lookout for fugitives, in co-operation with National Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
Shire was one of three men wanted in the deaths of brothers Abdulaziz and Mohamad Abdullah, who died in a May 26, 2021 drive-by shooting at the intersection of Alta Vista Drive and Dorion Avenue. A third man was also shot, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Ahmed Siyad, 28, of Toronto and Abdullahi Osman, 29, of Ottawa, have been arrested and face charges, but Shire has not been located.
The reward that will no doubt raise public awareness about this fugitive, said Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit Sgt. Chris O’Brien in a statement.
“We look forward to working with the Bolo Program to help amplify the message to help identify the whereabouts of this wanted suspect,” said National Capital Area Crime Stoppers president Richard McMullen.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5493, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
