COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are investigating after a man was shot multiple times in a neighborhood about a mile east of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
Officers were called to the 700 block of East Hills Road just before 6:30 p.m. on July 27 on reports of a shooting.
“Upon arriving on scene, officers located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and rendered aid until medical personnel arrived on scene,” a CSPD lieutenant said.
Despite those life-saving efforts, the victim later died. He was identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as 52-year-old David Charles Compare and his death is considered a homicide.
On Tuesday, police provided an update in the case explaining that 36-year-old Roger Vargas was charged with murdering Compare on Aug. 8. Vargas was already in the Bent County Jail on unrelated charges. CSPD added that 49-year-old Victor Carson is also wanted in the case and an arrest warrant for Carson was issued on Aug. 1.

Thoughts? As far as I can tell, Carson is still at large as of today’s posting date (September 2nd, 2024), since he is still on recent listings for weekly wanted fugitives on the Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers website. However, if that status has since changed and/or changes in the future anyone is more than welcome to let us know if we don’t find out first.
