BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two men wanted for murder.
On Friday, May 21, 2021, deputies discovered the body of 42-year-old Genaro Urbano Castillo inside a residence in Cameron Park.
According to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, Castillo was found with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body.
Investigators identified the suspects of Castillo’s murder as 39-year-old Roman Torres, 48-year-old Jose Alfredo Villarreal and 33-year-old Rogelio Mendiola.
Torres and Mendiola were arrested and later posted bond. However, the release stated that Torres violated his bond conditions and was re-arrested.
Authorities believe Villarreal escaped to Matamoros. The release adds that investigators also believe Mendiola fled to Matamoros after he posted bond.

Thoughts? As far as I can tell, Mendiola and Villarreal are still at large as of today’s posting date (July 20th, 2024), since the above article is from only two weeks ago with no updates about a capture that I could find online since.
