Syracuse, New York police have been looking for the killer of Jill-Lyn Euto after she murdered during Super Bowl Sunday in 2001. Her case was featured on the February 2nd, 2002 episode of AMW. Below is the archive description of her case:


A Missed Meeting


Jill-Lyn Euto always watched the Super Bowl with her family at their Syracuse, N.Y. home. Even though she had recently moved out of her mother's house, she still planned to go watch the Super Bowl with her family on January 28, 2001. She made plans with her mother, Joanne Browning, deciding to meet in the early afternoon to watch the game together.

When Jill didn't show up as planned, her mother and younger sister attempted to reach her on her phone. She didn't answer, and her family members assumed that she was taking her dog out for a walk, or riding the bus on her way to meet them. As more time passed, and there was still no word from Jill, her mother became more concerned.

When Joanne called her daughter's work early the next morning, and was told that Jill had not yet shown up for work, she was thrown into a state of panic. Joanne immediately left her own work, picked up her other daughter, and drove to Jill's apartment building on the 600 block of James Street in Syracuse.

A Deadly Discovery

When Joanne arrived at her daughter's apartment building, no one answered the door when she knocked. She hesitated, and then tried the door, which was unlocked and opened easily. Once inside, Joanne was confronted with a horrible scene. As she leaned down to pick up her daughter's dog, which came running to her, she saw Jill's body laying on the floor. It only took a moment for her to see that Jill was covered in blood and stab wounds.

When the police arrived, they were not able to find many clues at the crime scene. There was no sign of forced entry into Jill's apartment, which means it is possible that Jill knew her attacker. The murder weapon was one of Jill's own kitchen knives, which left police with very few leads to follow.

Days, months, and then years have passed since the occurrence of this brutal crime, but still without the apprehension of a suspect. Jill's family and friends must live every day knowing that her killer is still free. Jill lived in a busy apartment complex, so it is hard for her mother to believe that nobody saw or heard anything. The police, and Jill's family and friends, are asking for your help.

Thoughts? I tend to agree Jill might have known her killer since there were no signs of forced entry. I also find it incredibly hard to believe a busy apartment building- nobody heard anything- especially on the Sunday of the Super Bowl. There might have been get-togethers, parties etc. going on in other apartments but you'd think if Jill shrieked- if she begged for help (this is just my assumption that she might have)- that someone would notice it wasn't a usual noise you hear during the night. You'd also think if anyone didn't hear anything- they would have at least noticed something unusual. I really hope this case is solved, but I personally believe someone knows something and has been too afraid to come forward. It's been 14 years. It's time to do so.
