I'm really worried about Washington DC. This has been happening there a lot lately. What's going on?

In addition to Washington D.C. being a high crime area it is also the nation’s capital.
Not downplaying a crime issue there in any way but there are probably similarly tragic cases in other cities that aren’t getting as much attention because they aren’t federal cases.

Actually now that I looked it up you were right after all to be concerned. Violent crime has actually gone down most places in this country but DC is a rare exception on the rise. This is an editorial and opinion from NBC News: “In our view, the key culprits include the district’s depleted police force, bifurcated justice system, dreadful truancy rates and extended pandemic hangover.” www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/rcna134395
