(Above photo credit: amw.com archives) Suspect DescriptionGender: Male Race: Either Hispanic, Black or East Asian Age (at the time of the murder): 25-35 Years Old Height: 6'0 Build: Slim -- Daniel Price married his high-school sweetheart Sarah Abbott after they moved to San Francisco where he worked as an artist. On December 18, 2003, a few days before they were to travel back to New Orleans to celebrate Christmas, Sarah was dropped off by a taxi in front of their home, when Daniel saw an unidentified man confronting his wife. Daniel rushed to his wife's aid when the man shot and killed Daniel. Authorities say that the same man tried unsuccessfully to carjack a limousine and seemed to want entry into the Price residence. The man ran off after killing Daniel and remains unidentified. -- Thoughts? Despite the fact that the killer tried to carjack a limousine, authorities also said that robbery was not the motive in the murder of Daniel Price, which makes this case quite puzzling. The motive for this murder could have simply been a crime spree triggered by anything really (drug abuse, mental breakdown, etc.). Sadly it seems like there haven't been many decent leads in quite awhile based on the last article I found regarding Daniel Price being from 2010. web.archive.org/web/20070811114618/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=39878 Admin Note #1: According to archived news articles, investigators asked anyone with information about the case to call (415) 553-1071 or leave an anonymous message at (415) 553-9755. Although they say robbery wasn't the motive, the killer seemed to really want entry into Daniel and Sarah's house- making me wonder if the motive was drugs and he had mistaken the house for one that sold them.
Another possibility could be the killer wanted to sexually assault Sarah- in other to do that, he'd have to have her inside.
And a third possibility that has struck my mind is possibly as you suggested he was on drugs and paranoid- perhaps he was so off he might have actual thought it was his own home.
There are plenty of plausible theories in my opinion, but the problem is they are just that. I think the sketch and someone identifying this man is the best bet, but with the case being 12-years old, it will take someone with a photographic memory.

If I'm remembering his AMW profile correctly, I believe investigators were going on the theory that it was a botched robbery and that he shot Daniel because he surprised him.
What's interesting about this case is that the original profile in 2004 did not have a composite sketch. I think Sarah's description of the suspect was too vague and they didn't want to create one. In 2006, AMW brought in Lee Hammond to sit down with Sarah and create a composite.
