BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge mother is looking for closure after her son died in 2018.
Several times a week Liz Robinson travels a mile from her home to visit her son’s grave at the Winnfield Funeral Home in East Baton Rouge Parish. At the time of his death, Louis Robinson Jr. was just 29 years old.
She washes his gravestone and puts flowers on his grave. It’s a weekly ritual and a way of healing.
“The pain never goes away, never. I meet mothers every day and let them know that this is life, you know, it doesn’t get no easier. And anybody that tells you it does, they lie,” said Robinson.
On May 2, 2018, Robinson was shot after leaving a friend’s home in the 4700 block of Cadillac Street.
Robinson was a popular local rapper in the Baton Rouge area who left behind three children. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Middle East and Korea.
His mother remembers getting a phone call six years ago.
“I knew he was dead,” said Robinson. “God had already revealed that to me. The sky just opened up.”
It’s been almost six years and Baton Rouge Police have not made any arrests in the case. Tips about Robinson’s murder have been non-existent.
“We get a little information but sometimes information can bring us so far,” said Lt. Bryan Ballard, BRPD homicide division commander. “We really need folks when they see something to contact us.”
Robinson said she has faith that someday the person or persons responsible for her son’s death will be brought to justice.
Anyone with information that can help detectives can contact Capital Region Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
