Teodora Vega Balderas is wanted for the homicide of common-law-wife, Reina Delapaz Velasquez. According to a document in the Dallas County court records database, Teodora began to assault Reina after she came home from a wedding celebration. Reina's sister tried to pull Teodora off of Reina. That is when Teodora allegedly shot Reina to death.
Police had arrived after Reina's sister had previously called them. This was before Reina was shot. Unfortunately, according to Newspapers.com archives, the officers could not understand Reina's sister's frantic Spanish. They had to wait for a Spanish speaking officer. During that time, Teodora had fled the scene and has been wanted ever since.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact North Texas Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477) if you have any information on Artemio Mejia Calderon's whereabouts.

Thoughts? As of today, February 17, 2024, Teodora's murder case in Dallas County's Odyssey court records database is currently in "open" status. There has also been no case filings since 1993.
I had the image of Teodora from two years when I had access to the Dallas Morning News archives. For whatever reason, I must have missed this case when profiling fugitives from the newspaper archives. I still wanted to post this case since Teodora needs to be arrested and prosecuted for his alleged crime.
Also, I feel really bad for Reina's sister, not only for her sister being murdered but because responding officers couldn't even understand her. I do realize this is 1993 where officers weren't given much training on foreign languages. In 2024, I suspect that this has been improved on when officers are being trained.
I hope Reina's family can finally get justice and accountability in their loved one's case.
