In the early 1990s, Ramzi Yousef and his associates plotted a bombing at the World Trade Center building in New York City, although the original plan was to bomb Jewish neighbourhoods. On Feb 26, 1993, Yousef drove a Ryder van packed with explosives into the garage of the World Trade Building, left the area and had the van explode. The intention was to have one of the buildings collapse into the other, and although that failed, six people were killed and over a thousand others were wounded in some way. Yousef then sent a letter to the New York Times expressing the motive for the attack being the United States's support for the nation of Israel.
Yousef was soon placed on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and was arrested in Pakistan in 1995. He is currently serving a life sentence in Colorado's Supermax prison. One of Yousef's criminal associates, Abdul Rahman Yasin was arrested shortly after the bombing and explained to officials how the bomb was built and gave names and addresses. Right after that, Yasin was released and fled to Iraq. Yasin wasn't heard from again until 2002 when CBS's 60 Minutes program located Yasin in a prison outside the Iraqi city of Baghdad. He gave an interview to Lesley Stahl and was never heard from again after that.

Thoughts? I decided to do this case since it was on AMW a few times, the first airing I'm aware of was in 1999, although there could have been a brief profile after the bombing in February 1993. Also it's only three days until the 22nd anniversary of the first World Trade Center attack. As far as whatever became of Abdul Rahman Yasin, he could very easily have died during the Iraqi war somehow or could have gone off the grid of terrorist activity, perhaps living a more normal life despite being a wanted mass murderer, although I'm not sure how easy that would be to do unless Yasin fled Iraq.
