From Fox 2 St. Louis:
ST. LOUIS – The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public’s help in solving a hate crime on a Metro bus earlier this spring.
“We’re announcing a reward of up to $10,000 for any information leading to the arrest of a suspect who violently assaulted a transgender woman on a Metro bus in April of this year,” Jay Greenberg, special agent in charge of the FBI’s St. Louis Office, said.
The suspect boarded the bus at Chippewa and Grand on Thursday, April 13, around 3:30 p.m. Surveillance video shows the suspect talking with the victim near the rear of the bus.

“…The subject gets on a Metro bus in the Dutchtown area and walks to the back of the bus and engages in a conversation with the transgender woman and realizes she is transgender,” Greenberg said. “He then violently assaults her over and over. At one point, he pulls a weapon out of his bag and points it at her. This could have ended much more violently and no one else on the bus was injured through gunfire. We want to make sure we bring him to justice.”
The victim was left bloodied. The FBI offered no additional information on her condition.
“It was horrific. It was unnecessary,” said Jordan Braxton, vice president of TransParent.
Braxton had a message for the attacker.
“How would you like someone to do that to you? Pull a gun and put it to your head and tell you they’re going to kill you just for being who they are. And you can turn this around,” Braxton said. “What if this happened just because you’re Black? Because you were male? It doesn’t make a difference. This person was a human being.”
Greenberg said the attacker is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. After months without progress, federal investigators are hoping that by releasing the surveillance video to the public, they can make an arrest.
The suspect was wearing dark sunglasses, a black beanie, a neon green shirt, and a recognizable scar on his right forearm.
“…we’re confident that if we get the word out, someone somewhere is going to recognize this individual, and we’re going to get the information we need,” Greenberg said.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity and whereabouts can submit a tip by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or through the tips.fbi.gov website.
