FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The Fresno Police Department has identified a man suspected of killing another man on Wednesday, July 5th in Fresno.
Police received a ShotSpotter Alert of 20 gunshots fired in the area of 6th St. and Iowa Ave. around 2:3 a.m.
When officers arrived, they located 29-year-old Ramiro Mendoza Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Through their investigation, homicide detectives identified 18-year-old Elijah Oupathame as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Detectives determined Oupathame, an active gang member, was celebrating the Fourth of July holiday at a nearby residence when, for unknown reasons, he confronted and shot Mendoza, a member of the unhoused community.
A warrant for murder has been issued for Oupathame’s arrest.
Oupathame is also wanted for an unrelated shooting that occurred on December 15, 2022, where several residences were hit.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this shooting or Oupathame’s whereabouts to contact the Fresno Police Department.
Anyone calling with information can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.

Thought? I am taking a chance posting this case since I have nothing to 100 percent confirm Oupathame is still at large as of today's posting date (November 8th, 2023). I am simply reasonably assuming he still is to make a thread since the above article is from only two months ago with no new articles about a capture I could find online since. If Oupathame has since been captured and/or is captured in the future before we find out first, anyone is more than welcome to let us know.
