(Above photo credit: ndtv.com) From nbcnews.com: A "person of interest" continues to elude law enforcement officials hours after the fatal shootings at a bar and bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine, killed more than a dozen people. Early Thursday, law enforcement officials were looking for a 40-year-old man named Robert Card, whom they identified late Wednesday as someone who "should be considered armed and dangerous." "Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts," the Lewiston Police Department said on Facebook.“If people see him, they should not approach Card or make contact with him in any way,” Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck told reporters at a news conference. Between 15 and 20 people were killed, and 50 people were injured, according to law enforcement sources. Some of those injuries were reportedly from a stampede, the sources said. Officials urged residents of Lewiston and neighboring Auburn to shelter in place. Authorities did not disclose any information about Card. The University of Maine confirmed that he studied engineering there from 2001 to 2004. Maine court records show that a man named Robert Card who was born on the same date as the person of interest was charged with speeding in 2001 and 2002. No other criminal records were listed in the state's electronic court records system or in several other public records databases. A bulletin put out by the Maine Information and Analysis Center, a database for law enforcement officials, said Card was a trained firearms instructor and was believed to be in the Army Reserve. It added that law enforcement said Card "recently reported mental health issues to include hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME." The bulletin said Card was reported to have been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks this summer and then released. NBC News has not been able to independently verify the bulletin's statements about Card's history. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/lewiston-maine-shooting-robert-card-what-know-rcna122262Thoughts? Placing the manhunt for Card in the National Media section for what should be obvious reasons. It might be difficult to capture him. Maine has many forests and that is a difficult terrain to find fugitives.

It appears there's now a standoff at Card's home. If he isn't there I'd say it would be relatively easy to capture him alive considering how massive a manhunt this is and his inability to not stand out. However, if he were dead somewhere, there's so many places his remains could be it would be difficult to find them. This appears to be hopefully a moot point at the moment but we shall find out. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/lewiston-maine-mass-shooting-robert-card-b2436697.html

I will be shocked if he's taken alive.

Northern Maine is literally one of the two most genuinely isolated parts east of the Mississippi River, the other being the Everglades in Florida…. Kentucky, Tennessee or the Deep South don’t count in that category.
A manhunt in extreme northern Maine will likely take awhile especially if he fled or killed himself north of Baxter State Park

It appears he wasn't at the home after all. Like I said, if he's alive it is concerning but he doesn't have the ability to live a quiet life it seems. Of course you have to worry about him committing another mass shooting if he's still out there, but my other concern is a Eugene Palmer situation where if he killed himself afterwards- the remains are possibly right in an area yet they can't be found.

It might also be an Eric Rudolph situation. If he is truly familiar with the area, he can hide for a long time.

In the woods of northern Maine I sadly think it may be a repeat of Eugene Palmer and that one guy that was found in the desert years after he murdered a cop.
