The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a $7500 reward for 51-year-old Raul Herrera Jr., a South Texas fugitive with ties to Hidalgo County.
Herrera is known to be affiliated with the Tango Vallucos gang and has also was affiliated in the past with the Texas Syndicate, according to the Texas DPS website. Herrera has been in and out of prison since the early 1990s and is considered armed and dangerous.
In 1990, Hererra was sentenced to ten years of confinement for two counts of aggravated assault, according to Texas DPS. In 2002, he was convicted in federal court of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and felon in possession of a firearm and received 11 years of confinement. In 2014, he was convicted of money laundering and sentenced to three years.
In May of this year, warrants were issued out of Hidalgo County for Hereerra's arrest for aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
Herrera's last known ties were in Hidalgo County, narrowly in McAllen.
