On Nov 24, 1999, high school teacher John Atkins was driving on Interstate 35 near Schertz, Texas, when another car began to pursue him at a high rate of speed. John weaved in and out of traffic in an attempt to get away. The driver pulled up beside John's car and opened fire with a gun, hitting John in the heart. John's car crashed into a minivan, flipping it over before ended up in an embankment. The minivan's driver survived while John died from his injuries. Authorities say this murder was a road rage incident but they are not sure why John was targeted.

Thoughts? AMW aired this case once on June 2, 2001. As far as road rage incidents go, the victims sometimes do absolutely nothing wrong and the aggressor can target someone out of pure anger or malicious intent. That is probably what happened in this case.
